Time for ATAY aka liver! DID YOU KNOW that LIVER is a rich source of a wide spectrum of vitamins, minerals, protein and fat? It is actually particularly good for the brain, providing many of the nutrients that we need for healthy cognitive function. These include EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and AA (arachidonic acid). Not only does liver provide a very high dose of IRON and VITAMIN A, but it’s also one of the best sources of many B VITAMINS, phosphorous and magnesium. In fact, liver is hands down your GREATEST SOURCE of vitamin B12. If you compare the overall nutrient density of liver to other healthy foods like spinach, carrots or apples, liver outperforms all of them due to how many vitamins and minerals it packs per calorie. However, the key to getting all of these benefits from liver is consuming the right kind: liver derived from organic, grass-fed or pasture-raised animals. I recommend that you avoid eating the organs of animals who were not free-range and appropriately fed. #timetoeatwithdrcat#filipinofood#organmeat#atay#liver#filipinofood#filipinofoodmovement#pinoyfood#foodasmedicine#Bvitamins#iron#vitaminb12#kainna#wellnesswarrior

Level Up Chicken Tinola
Tinola is a favourite in our home and this simple dish has many variations in my kitchen. Today, I added corn and oyster mushroom to our tinola. Sky loves tinola, actually any dish with broth.
Almost 4 years ago, I stopped using cubes and powder seasoning in preparing our food and just extended cooking time of meat for its flavors and the flavor of spices to come out.
When you’re craving for something but you don’t want to do the work, you pray hard you’d find a hawker to save you from all the tedious cooking ☺️
Okoy is something I’d rather buy than cook since a piece or two is enough to satisfy my craving. Buying from hawkers, you also get to chismis for a bit, have a laugh or two with them before you leave.
Talk, laugh, buy, eat. ❤️
This is made of kalabasa and kamoteng dilaw from a vendor who has braved the rain early in the morning to go to the market. Apparently, kamote isn’t so easy to find when its rainy.
What to do on a Sunday morning when you begin to feel like you are growing mold from all the recent rains? A tapilan and laing “hummus” served with chicharon. I know, I know, the color may remind you of “soylent green” but this was SLAM DUNK GOOD! Still tweaking recipe a bit, but I used tapilan (like monggo) that was boiled till cooked, added homemade Laing from fresh taro leaves and lots of coconut cream and chilies and loosened spread with some olive oil and hot water... would you order something like this on a pinoy menu or is it too strange? 🤓 #marketman#marketmanila#filipinofood#filipinofoodmovement#pinoyfood#laing#tapilan#monggo#homemade
Aunt M once again takes it to town! Note that there is yet another table at the back for more food. [L-R, Top-Down: Chicken Afritada, Pancit MikiBihon (Stir fry rice noodles), Ginataan Alimasag (Dungeoness in Coconut Cream), Nilagang Neckbone (Pork Neckbone Soup)]#foodoverload#familydinner
