One of the practical exercises I teach to all my students is how to pick something up from a squat. Pretend like you are sitting in a chair that’s a little too far away. Hinge at the hips and keep the back flat. Use your legs to help lift an object. Practice when you are cleaning up toys and picking up your baby. Your back will thank you!

We had a fab workout: a good balance b/w therapeutic movements that are perfectly facilitated by the roller, and all the “hard core” ( literally ) stuff that we love about our Pilates practice. As in every class, we lengthened, we strengthened, we moved the spine in all directions it’s meant to move, we balanced & had a good balance of all of the above! Also known as 'Double Straight Leg Stretch' trains strength in the core, stability in the spine & torso. Mobility of the hip in flexion and extension is challenged along with oblique endurance to maintain your imprinted position & transversus abdominis to keep your abs flat. If you can't maintain your imprint, or your hamstrings are tight, try elevating your hips on a pilates arc barrel or place your hands under your sacrum to lesson abdominal work and decrease range of motion.

Paola Meacci oggi ci fa tonificare tutta la parte laterale del nostro corpo con grande attenzione agli obliqui e ai dorsali mentre ci muoviamo su e giù col bacino ed eseguiamo il #SideBend!

Possiamo scegliere la versione più adatta al nostro tono muscolare e alla nostra capacità di controllo tra la più facile, ricercando una forma lineare e simmetrica in appoggio su gomito e ginocchio, oppure una intermedia su gomito e piede, o ancora passando in appoggio su mano e piedi, per finire con la più sfidante a forma di arcobaleno in flessione laterale! 
Queste posizioni possono essere tenute, anche per più tempo, o dinamiche, facendo salire e scendere il bacino a ritmo del respiro, ma sempre eseguite con grande controllo addominale e spinta del braccio. Ricordiamoci di stabilizzare la colonna vertebrale con le sue forme neutre e il cingolo scapolare, di mantenere spazio tra spalle e orecchie e di allontanare la testa dai piedi, sentendoci alte come delle modelle!

Paola Meacci oggi ci fa tonificare tutta la parte laterale del nostro corpo con grande attenzione agli obliqui e ai dorsali mentre ci muoviamo su e giù col bacino ed eseguiamo il #SideBend ! Possiamo scegliere la versione più adatta al nostro tono muscolare e alla nostra capacità di controllo tra la più facile, ricercando una forma lineare e simmetrica in appoggio su gomito e ginocchio, oppure una intermedia su gomito e piede, o ancora passando in appoggio su mano e piedi, per finire con la più sfidante a forma di arcobaleno in flessione laterale! Queste posizioni possono essere tenute, anche per più tempo, o dinamiche, facendo salire e scendere il bacino a ritmo del respiro, ma sempre eseguite con grande controllo addominale e spinta del braccio. Ricordiamoci di stabilizzare la colonna vertebrale con le sue forme neutre e il cingolo scapolare, di mantenere spazio tra spalle e orecchie e di allontanare la testa dai piedi, sentendoci alte come delle modelle! #pilates  #pilateslovers  #pilatesbenessere  #pilatesmatwork
