I knew the sad that I was in last week different from other kinds of sad when I tried to get on the mat. Normally when Iโ€™m having a down day, a #yoga session picks me right back up. It didnโ€™t happen. Then I thought joining a group #Pilates class would help. Not really๐Ÿ’™

This was a sad that I wasnโ€™t familiar with. It was an empty sad. A sad that needed a lot of blue throat chakra energy to express emotions sucked in๐Ÿ’™A sad that needed to hibernate.
A sad that had the courage to call out, looking for another to say to me, โ€œHi, Iโ€™m here, just in case you need an earโ€ ๐Ÿ’™

I got all that over the weekend, and peacefully on the road to recovery. I canโ€™t say it was a horrible week at all. It was a week filled with reflection and blessings. Iโ€™ve been doing this things that make me happy, spending time with mostly myself and only allowing people who make me happy. Iโ€™ve been reading up a lot on moods, hormones, mood and energy boosting foods/supplements. Iโ€™m learning/studying a part of me, I either wasnโ€™t aware of, or is quite new to me ๐Ÿ’™
If it is a new me, then the saying is very true- 
You wake up to a different you, a different body, a different mindset, a different character of you every single day. What is important is to honour yourself anyway every single day instead of beating yourself up for not being as amazing/productive/positive/strong as yesterday. Yesterday has like long gone. Now, is important. Work with where you are... right now. This weeks #healingwithpilates Power Moves with @zaynagold @functionfabulous Advanced Pilates exercises can be so intimidating making us feel frustrated and discouraged!๐Ÿ˜ . This weeks focus allows us to take the more challenging exercises and make them more accessible for our bodies. Hereโ€™s my post 2๏ธโƒฃ, my progression, to the #pilatesjackknife variation I posted the other day! Check it out ๐ŸŽฅ if you havenโ€™t seen it๐Ÿ˜‰.For this post, my challenge was to progress away from a feet fixed position. I chose to borrow from my Lats so I can feel that successful connection to my back body. The #pilatesexochair worked perfectly! Here are some set up cues: lay supine with the crown of your head about an inch away from the chair base ๐Ÿ‘‘ with an over hand grip, โœ‹๐Ÿปplace hands on either side of the poles attached to the pedal. Legs together and lengthened up to the ceiling. โœ‹๐ŸปGently push hands into the poles and pull pedal down just enough to feel a connection to the shoulder girdle and side body๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸปArms should still be straight! Lift the legs up and over and lower the toes to the chair. Continue to pull into the pedal with the arms and press the legs up towards the ceiling. Continue press into the hands and reach the legs as you slowly roll the spine down to the mat. Iโ€™ve noticed that in order for me to do a successful inversion, my feet need to be fixed ๐Ÿ‘ฃ So, in my #pilatespractice, I try to think of different ways to fix my feet. It could be In straps, push through bar, foam roller or ball. Iโ€™ve even used someoneโ€™s arm๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜†. Today, I used a glider and a wall! Sliding up the wall into extension. Press the backs of the shoulders into the mat and lift the chin off the neck. Bring one leg towards me and I really thought of pressing that leg away as I returned it to the wall. You can roll down between leg โ€œkicksโ€or โ€œkickโ€both legs and then rolling down through the spine while continuing to press the feet into the wall. This is my imperfect version of week 6 of the #matworkchallenge with @russopilates and boy did I find this one hard.  I wasn't even going to post this at all as I have so much to work on with  both high bicycle and leg lowers in teaser but It's meant to be a challenge and practice makes perfect I hope! As you can see I struggle a bit to find the start position with #highbicycle and I need to work on keeping my upper body quiet on the teaser leg lowers. Oh the Jack Knife on the Mat...an adversary of mine ๐Ÿคจ. Iโ€™ve always struggled with this exercise. But Iโ€™ve been practicing and made some improvements on the straightening of the shape. I realized I needed to focus more on my posterior chain to to reach the legs high to the ceiling and keep them reaching for that desired โ€˜Jack Knifeโ€™ shape. The good  olโ€™ core works to bring your torso up and to bring it down with control as the legs continue to reach. Still a work in progress.
