👉🏼Stress management 👈🏼
I am a person who gets easily stressed at any thing. I had to come up with a mechanism which could keep me calm.
Before going to Murée in September, I watched a guided meditation of three series at the @pickuplimes YouTube channel.
Meditation is kinda cheesy things girls do which takes like hours to do and I would be like NAH BRO! Not my thing!!
I watched her guided meditation and it was so calming. I practiced meditation in Governor House Muree which has the most peaceful environment to be silent and focus on meditation.
Now it might sound like a big thing to you too so here are a few easy steps that you can do anywhere to release stress and be more calm.
1- Sit down as you want , wherever you want and close you eyes.
2- Focus on your natural breathing rythym.
3- Label your breathing as INHALE when you inhale and EXHALE when you exhale. You say inhale and exhale in your mind.
31Stay focused on you breathing rythym only.
Tada that’s it. Just for 2-3 mins label your breathing movements brings awareness and makes you mindful about you yourself.
Personally this has helped me loads. I don’t specifically meditate everyday but I even can do this while sitting on my desk while I am studying.
Thanks for reading.
I hope it was helpful
This is in a way inspired by @pickuplimes ... I want to live a more plant based lifestyle. I'll start by getting to 80% plant based, at least.
These are just some roasted chickpeas with quinua, avocado, a ton of lemon, and mango juice (not pictured). This week has been horribly stressing, academic life gets hectic towards the end of the year, but hey.. is almost the end of this year!!! .
I am so excited to get home tonight for two reasons:
1. My new phone has been delivered and I can’t wait to play with my new toy! (Google Pixel 3XL so hopefully some amazing quality pictures to come in the next few weeks! 📷)
2. I have leftovers from last night’s dinner to eat and it was so tasty I’m drooling just thinking about it 🤤 I ever-so-slightly adapted a @pickuplimes recipe for Gado Gado Stir-fry and oh my gosh it was so delicious and peanutty and comforting on a grim winter night! Check out their website for the recipe and thank me later 😉
Healthy wholesome cookies 🍪 Yes, there is such a thing thanks to tips from @pickuplimes. Thank you Sadia! These cookies have oats, a homemade almond peanut and flax seed nut butter, bananas, dries blueberries, milk and chocolate chips. They were chewy and soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The recipe is on the @pickuplimes blog and YouTube channel. They are not too sweet and in my mind can be classified as the perfect breakfast cookie! A proper Grab-n-Go option! While I would never recommend a hurried breakfast, it’s better to be good than be perfect, right? 🤔 #pickuplimes#myfirstcookie#breakfastcookies#grabngo#senseofaccomplishment
Tried out a new recipe tonight from #pickuplimes ! Pasta w/ vegan bolognese sauce 😋 OMG you need this in your life right now! • Ingredients: penne pasta, white onion, garlic, mushrooms, yellow squash, red bell pepper, green olives, artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes, Italian style diced tomatoes, beefless ground, fresh basil on top 🍝😉🍅
I wish curry was more photogenic but this will have to do. Curry might just be my new staple. This recipe is normally made with cauliflower, but there was none in the grocery store I used butternut squash instead. I accidentally cut them into 1 inch instead of 1 cm cubed pieces (both the squash and potato) 😅 but it didn’t impact the flavour. Funny story too if you are still reading this- I made the curry but had to leave for Guides before I could have any but my hair and hands smelled like curry spices!!! Not only did I have to leave it at home until I was done, the scent had to haunt me too, in the most delicious way possible. The recipe can be found here: https://www.pickuplimes.com/single-post/2015/04/08/Cauliflower-Chickpea-Coconut-Curry. #vegan#curry#homecooked#pickuplimes
After a month of waiting... It finally arrived!!! My bento box from #pickuplimes !! It's so cute and I cannot wait to use it! Thank you for the adorable and sweet card Sadia! So excited I won this and I appreciate you sending it to me all the way from the Netherlands!! Can't wait to make your next creation!
My delicious and nutritious breakfast most days..inspired by the lovely @pickuplimes. Oatmeal topped with frozen mashed berries, peanut butter, cinammon, a splash of soymilk and a mix of different nuts and seeds.
The secret is to top off the oatmeal with a little bit of coconut sugar BEFORE adding the rest of the toppings. I used to add the sugar at the end and the oatmeal would taste bland to me but now that I add the sugar first it's freaking delicious! 😋😉
My toddler almost always wakes from his nap crying and won’t stop until he gets something to eat which quickly becomes the most challenging part of my day if I don’t have something ready for him.
I recently watched one of @pickuplimes videos where she talked about added bananas to the oatmeal while it’s cooking and oh my... it has made oatmeal delicious again.
I topped it with some peanut butter, maple syrup and homemade oat/hemp/date milk and also added raisins, cinnamon and clove powder to the oats while the were cooking.
So simple, filling and yummy!
The only problem was that I timed it wrong and this was supposed to be my lunch and he ate it all instead. Guess he was hungry and good thing there’s extra! 🙈😋
Everyone thinks that someone that eats a plant based diet is boring and bland! Let me tell you it isn’t. We went out to lunch yesterday to Costa Vita, and their pico and guacamole were bland! After eating this way for almost 3 years and using a lot of spices, this food is delicious! Also very nutritious! These oats were made with almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg essential oils, a banana, and topped with black and blue berries, and flax seed. Hit the spot on this snowy winter day! Happy Saturday! #oats#berries#flaxseed#almondmilk#nodairy#pickuplimes#jane_esselstyn_rn
You guys, I have a confession to make....I love food! 😜😆🤣Yes...it is true...I am a FOODIE! .
Ever since my childhood, I was always drawn to the cooking shows for example "Yan Can Cook", that evolved to watching shows on the Food Network, the Cooking Channel. Since I no longer have a television and hence no more cable (that was a personal choice), I've taken to YouTube to satisfy my cooking show cravings. Enter this amazing recipe from #pickuplimes . Inspired by a recent upload, I went ahead and made it today. If I did not have dinner plans tonight elsewhere, I would have kicked back, put on my jammies, poured myself a glass of wine, and have a bowl of this creamy, yummy, comforting gem of a meal. This was very easy to prepare. You can cook the lentils ahead of time...but we New Yawkers are bit impatient (I am working on that...hehe) I threw in 1/2 cup of red lentils. This is the Roasted Califlower Lentil Curry on the Pick Up Limes Website. What I like is that the recipe is for 4 to 6 servings, so you can store some for lunch the next day. 😎👍
Driving through the insane streets of New York with my 16 foot long monster amongst other crazy drivers🤪, kamikaze zombie 🧟♂️🧟♀️pedestrians, and the like, does take a toll and I realized that I started to resort back to emotional eating (Jalapeño chips anyone?). Thus I have decided to change up my eating habits for more energy and focus - that is for starters. Hence my search for good, wholesome foods that are simple and easy to prepare
Sadia is a registered Dietician, so her recipes are wholesome and good for you and therapeutic and healing. This meal and others her site will be on repeat for me, gradually replacing the chips and such that I often reach for when things get intense, for I believe that food can heal when you choose it wisely. If you are looking to up your feeding game for the better, check out the #pickuplimes IG feed and her website, pick up limes dot com, and her YouTube channel. It does not disappoint. Always keep moving forward. Cheers! 😎👍💪😃💃🏻👏👏
Bonne lecture !
Another case of deception. Banana cinnamon oats with a layer of happiness - kiwi, pomegranate, homemade granola, banana, strawberry and homemade peanut and almond butter. The warm oats are quite satisfying on chilly mornings, gives you the push you need to start your day. Trying to save the reputation of this usually underwhelming breakfast one picture at a time 😉. These oats recipes are inspired by @pickuplimes! Thank you Sadia😊. Her blog and videos are definitely worth a watch! #breakfastfortwo#happywednesday#pickuplimes
Question: Is the glass half empty or half full? ☕️
Warm oatmeal with banana and cherry sauce, chopped nuts and almond butter and a spoonful of Greek yogurt 🌻
Slow mornings like this 🎵
This bowl of oatmeal was inspired by @pickuplimes . Skip the Greek yogurt if you want to be 100% vegan 🌱 #pickuplimes
NEW #video 🌞 grab your comforting cup of tea and let’s chat ☕️ the video is about happiness. Complex topic to explore, eh? But it’s a TTT, so it’s short and sweet 😉 Speaking of happy... this. The simple things: my brekky oatmeal, cup of tea, and a bike ride to the studio each morning (swipe right) 🚲🌳 unfiltered nature in all its beauty. Isn’t she gorgeous? When the rays shine through the trees like that I seriously just melt... both figuratively and literally because it’s been darn cold here lately 😜 what makes you happy? Oh, and video link in profile 📽
The recent rainy weather, is soup weather. This Creamy Coconut Paprika Zucchini Soup from @pickuplimes sounds delicious! -1 tsp (5 ml) sunflower oil
-2 yellow onions, roughly diced
-2 cloves garlic, crushed
-2 cups (500 ml) water
-2 vegetable boullion cubes
-1 zucchini, roughly chopped
-3 bell peppers, roughly chopped
-1 tsp (5 g) ground coriander -1/4 cup (62 g) sun-dried bell pepper (aka paprika) in oil
-1 can (400 ml) full-fat coconut milk
1. Heat the oil in a large soup pot over medium-high heat. Add onions and sauté until lightly brown and soft, about 5 minutes. Add splashes of water as needed to decaramelize the pan and prevent burning and sticking. Add crushed garlic and bouillon cubes and stir until the cubes have dissolved and the garlic is fragrant - about 1-2 minutes.
2. Add zucchini, bell peppers, coriander, and sun-dried paprika to the pot and sauté for 4-5 minutes. Add the remaining water.
3. Bring everything to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer with lid partially covered for 10-15 minutes.
4. Add the coconut milk and cook for another 3-5 minutes, then blend the soup with an immersion blender until creamy. Garnish and enjoy!
