When compared, the focusing of the light beam is what becomes most important in certain situations. For identifying an object at a great distance, the MagLite will always win out. In a close quarters situation or even at a 20-30ft distance, the light spread and center hot spot of the Olight PL-MINI is what wins.
Granted, the MagLite in itself is a nice close quarters weapon if you ever needed to use it that way, but the Olight will typically be attached to a loaded pistol which has the upper hand in a fight.
What is the best light here to use? It depends on why you're using it. The MagLite has a very long life for continuous use, but the Olight has a magnetic USB charger and a low battery warning light. In the end, you should always choose your battles wisely.
