What you lookin' at 😂😂... Whipped my phone out and this dog was loving it 😂!! How human are his eyes?! He lives on one island and swims along the sandbar to another island (where we were having lunch) to see if he can grab some nibbles
Culture is the widening of the mind and the of the spirit 🙏🏽💫 #culturetrip#philippines
One of the few places in Philippines that’s preserved its indigenous culture with little Spanish influence, Sagada in Mountain Province North Luzon has a mix of local craft and agriculture, adventure activities, and rich history and culture. One of the most enlightening was trekking to the Hanging Coffins of Echo Valley.
“For thousands of years, the people of the Cordilleras have practiced the tradition of burying their dead in hanging coffins, each suspended to the sides of the limestone cliffs with ropes and wires. It’s believed that hanging the coffins in such an elevated place will bring the physical bodies closer to their ancestral spirits. Elders or those who held high positions in the tribe are placed higher on the cliffs.
In practice, the body is first bound with rattan and vines and then placed on a wooden chair facing the main door of the house to allow their relatives to pay respects to the deceased. After a vigil for a number of days, the corpse is secured into a fetal position, the legs pushed up towards the chin. It is tied with rattan and vines and fitted into a coffin measuring only about a meter in length. Some of the coffins are also placed in the dark corners of the Lumiang Burial Cave.
It’s also tradition that hanging coffins are reserved for only those who died of old age. Infants or those who died of illness cannot be placed inside the coffins in fear of bad luck. On the other hand, being subjected to a drop of blood coming from the wrapped corpse is considered good luck.”
HAMMOCK LIFE 🌴 ✌... Port Barton was the perfect place for us to chill for 5 days. This was on White Beach - a remote beach a short boat ride away. If you go there... Leave by 4pm otherwise the sand flies will get you! 😭... We got lots of bites 😞
Hip hop hooray for @vitasoyph 🌱 #proteinpower#philippines
Soy milk has been pretty easy to come by in even the most remote areas of the Philippines. These little bottles of regular, coffee, or chocolate Vita Soy are the best though.
There’s a Filipino off-brand called Vitamilk but the glass bottle look alike has whole milk powder in addition to the soybean base, which raised the question of why?! Why do companies need to randomly put milk and milk proteins in things?!
But for 30-50 cents a bottle, I’ve been picking up @vitasoyph on a daily basis for a complete protein addition to my days wandering the Philippines.
Happy vegan travel noms from my explorations in the pacific!
📍Legazpi. The largest city in the Bicol region of the Philippines and home to Mount Mayon - an 8.081ft tall active stratovolcano named after the legendary princess-heroine Daragang Magayon (Beautiful Lady). She’s a perfect cone of a mountain and really is, like a siren song, magnetic to the gaze and alluring to the spirit, but also like a siren, deceptive and dangerous. Many times in the last few hundred years Mayon has showered surrounding towns in lava, ash, mud flows, bringing death to thousands from above. A beacon of beauty nonetheless, and the simple charm of this village was a breathe of fresh air after a week amongst the chaos of Manila. I shot this from the balcony of a little @airbnb on a @sonyalpha #a7riii at 12mm with the 12-24/4/G #exploreinspired#sharethestoke#philippines 🇵🇭
It was April when my Aunt died because of cancer. I was so sad back then because I never had the chance to visit her in the hospital when she was still alive.
I thought someone would give me comfort and would never leave my side (like what I did).
But I was wrong, I was left hanging. The sadness I’m feeling became depression. I don’t know how to live and how to survive the day, can’t eat, can’t sleep, felt like dying.
My family got worried on what is happening to me and that was the time I decided to pull myself together and be strong not just for me but also for them. I kept myself busy, live a healthy life, meet my friends, watch horror movies(keep me calm 😂), go to gym almost everyday, hike, and travel.
As days go by, I got better. How do I define better? All those sleepless nights became restful slumber. 😌
I started appreciating everything around me, even the smallest ones, even the simplest ones. I have plenty of time for myself now. 😊
I have nothing to worry and just live at the moment.
And for that, I thank God for letting me live and for giving me strength.🙏
I never dated anyone since then ‘coz I don’t want to be unfair knowing I’m still not over yet and I don’t use anyone just to forget someone. 🤗
To those who are suffering from depression, be strong. Always pray. The greatest battle you ever have to win is the battle within yourself. You can do it!! ❤️ And to that someone who left me hanging, I still care. Don’t be too sad, ‘coz I can’t be there for you anymore. I won’t buy you medicine if you get sick, cook your favorite sopas, or even buy you fruits and donuts. Live a happy life.😊 At sa lahat ng taong laging handang dumamay. SALAMAT sa inyo. 😁
It’s time to close this chapter and start a new one, a happy one. My heart is at peace now, though I still need time to recover.❤️
Good vibes, positive energy, and amazing souls are all I ever want around me. No to drama since we are not living in teleserye.😂 #fightdepression#fightagainstdepression#depression

Simple morning pleasures... a fresh breakfast and a great cup of coffee.
Sagada in Mountain Province North Luzon is known for their Arabica Coffee grown locally and found at almost every cafe lining the streets of this little village in the hills.
Had to start off each morning I was there with a cup and a little snack before setting off on hiking and waterfall adventures.
Happy simple life pleasures from Sagada Philippines! What’s your favorite way to start the day?
I planned out our whole day: First, we'll make snow angels for two hours, and then we'll go ice skating, and then we'll eat a whole roll of Toll-House cookie dough as fast as we can, and then to finish, we'll snuggle.
Having breakfast on top on the world ⛰
@thebirdhouseelnido was always high on our bucket list ever since it opened a few years ago. We knew it was going to be the first stop of our #honeymoon !
Nestled amongst the trees with the most beautiful glamping tents in offer, the view is nothing less than spectacular 🤩
Our friends and family even accompanied us for a few days and left with memories to last a lifetime 😍
Is there a better way to have breakfast than above the trees? Where’s the most special place you’ve had breakfast? .

Back to our ideal Monday mornings with @bintanasaparaiso ☕️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Camiguin is one of those "Virgin" places in the Philippines, made popular when Survivor shot some of their series in the island. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First impressions: Raw beauty but beware of not having so much connectivity here. We are coming in the island with a typhoon so it has been rainy BUT we're hopeful that we can get sunshine the next 3 days so we can show you how beautiful and special this island is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here's a hint. Probably one of the top 5 islands we've visited in the Philippines. Can't wait to show you more! We're slowly uploading Stories but we're taking as much content as we can. Can't wait to show them all to you. #travelwithGamin ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
P.S. Completing the jungle vibes with @lunaandnoon posting more of them in the next few days. 🐘
