Most folks know I’m a die-hard Caps and Flyers fan. Today, the Broad Street Bullies unveiled their new mascot, Gritty.
I’ll be honest: Gritty is just the kind of nightmare fuel every Philly fan can relate to. I’m horrified, amused, confused, bizarrely proud, and totally in love with him. Gritty is so awful, so deranged, and so chaotic that you can’t look away.
Maybe we actually make the Playoffs this year. Maybe we won’t. But at least our mascot will make headlines, and for that I thank him. Sweet Nightmares! .

This was a commissioned piece for the Philadelphia Flyers charity golf tournament at the Trump National Golf Club in Pine Hill, NJ.
This piece was auctioned off to showcase my work and the highest bidder would receive the right to get their very own custom work of art by myself.
It was definitely a challenging and time consuming process to complete this piece because of all the detail that went into each player. However, it was well worth the practice and I always enjoy a challenge.
This had to be approved by, at very least, a board of people with the “best interests” of the @philadelphiaflyers in mind. Someone walked into a board room on the eastern side of my state with a drawing of what happens when you crossbreed The Babadook, Donald Trump and Fozzy Bear and that board room apparently just enthusiastically said “HELL YEAH DO IT! APPROVED! Put skates on it too!” Let this be a lesson that you can do anything if you focus on it I guess. #flyers#philadelphia#philadelphiaflyers#letsgopens#babadook#donaldtrump#fozzybear#muppets#hockey#nhl
Flyers are 0-1 in the Gritty era, as they fall 4-3 to Boston.
Elliott did not look good at ALL.
Sloppiness throughout majority of the game, against a team full of AHL players.
Gritty was booed constantly 😂, but he had his moments tonight.
We got momentum after the God Dale Weise scored, but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback.
Goal Scorers: Weise, Giroux, and Konecny. #nhl#philadelphiaflyers
We are winless with the new mascot. He's gotta go! (I actually don't know how serious I'm being). I'm not really gonna go over the game itself, because from what I saw, we played good, just didn't get the bounces. As for certain players though, Vorobyev is inching closer to being a lock on this team, if he isn't already. The guy did all the little things right, showed off his passing ability, he plays a style the coaches like, if he somehow doesn't make the team, get the pitchforks out. Myers had a decent game. Nothing that screams "put me on this team" but good enough IMO, especially considering some of the other d-men. A-Mac had a rough game, like he was really bad, turnovers, bad passes, etc. Only reason I'll cut some slack is because it was his first game. Also, I haven't really talked about Folin much. All I'm gonna say is he's boring as fuck. Like he literally does nothing. No good defensive plays, not good offensively, but at the same time he rarely makes mistakes. Like he's just there. Guess I wouldn't mind him sitting in the press box as our 7th d-man. As for the locks on defense, Hagg looked good today, Provy had a rough night, puck simply wouldn't bounce his way, Ghost was average. Up front I think NAK, Weise and Raffl had decent games. All 3 were physical along the boards, won some puck battles, Weise got a goal. Their stock probably rose after today. Lehtera didn't look great. Knight actually looked good today. Made a couple nice defensive plays, created a couple chances. Bottom of the roster is gonna be interesting. Assuming Vorobyev is a lock the way he's played, you essentially have , Weal, Laughton, Raffl, Knight, NAK, Lehtera, Weise and Twarynski (hopefully I didn't forget anybody) fighting for 3 lineup spots and 2 healthy scratch spots. It's tough to predict which 3 will get cut. If they favour the vets then the decision is easy but I want them to make the right decision, not be biased. As for the rest of the forwards who played tonight, I honestly just loved them as a whole. Top 6 looked good, just woke up a little too late. Giroux probably stood out most but as long as they all play like they did in the second half of the game, we'll be good
Day 22 of the NHL Makeup Countdown Challenge
10 - Philadelphia Flyers @philadelphiaflyers
Hockey season is so close and the days are busier than ever but I promised my friends over at @forpuckssakepodcast that I would do a realistic face paint of @grittynhl at some point during the regular season. For now, hope y’all like this Broad Street Bully inspired look!
