👩🏼🍳 it’s been a while since I’ve mealprepped on a #sunday & it feels good to know my 1️⃣ #breakfast (celery juice + banana cinnamon ONO’s) 2️⃣ #lunch (turkey burgers w/ spinach + dried cranberries in romaine wraps & mashed sweet potatoes) 3️⃣ #snacks (veggies + hummus, bars) are good to go for the week. prepped, cooked & kitchen cleaned in an hour. 🙌🏽
A day or two ago I was gifted the first and only @cieleathletics x @thephilly10k hat from my good friend @ryanhcallahan to share #myphillyrunstory . My first thought was geez, where do I begin (I’ve lived in Philly for 15 years!)? My second thought was these are some big shoes to fill (literally and figuratively). My third thought was keep it simple (#lifegoal ), scroll down if you want to read that version of my story 😜 .
I don’t remember my first run in Philly but it was probably down Broad Street from @templeuniv to City Hall. I do remember my first group run - it took me around a year to build up enough courage to join the @fishtownbeerrunners, my first race (ever) @ibxrun10, and the first time I tried to run the BFB. I ran right under it and couldn’t figure out how everyone else got up there 🤷♀️ .
One of my most important Philly running memories is the moment I decided I wanted @ryancallahan’s job. I had recently graduated from Philly school #2 @drexeluniv, was really unhappy at my old job, and applying for new jobs like crazy. Ryan had recently become a #philebrity after organizing a solidarity run in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. Over 2,000 people showed up .
It was one of those amazing moments in time when a bunch of strangers truly come together. The positive force and energy of that run is what I believe sparked the growth of the Philadelphia running community. Sure it existed before but that run united runners, run clubs, and the city in a way that helped build and strengthen the running community to become what it is today .
Back to #myphillyrunstory , we were on a run (duh) along the @schuylkillbanks chatting about life, the Philly running community, and such when I realized I wanted to share my love of running with as many people as possible. Fast forward to a few months later when I started part time @phillyrun and soon after took over Ryan’s job 🎉 .
Running has connected me with so many people, places and opportunities - it’s hard to imagine my life in Philadelphia or anywhere else without it .
Now, the simple #myphillyrunstory : I love Philadelphia. I love running. I love running in Philadelphia ❤️.
