I was given some really great art advice the other day...to let go of fear and expectations.
It really hit me today how over the past few months I slowly became more stressed over “perfecting” my drawings that I forgot why I started drawing in the first place: because getting lost in drawing feels incredible.
Posting one more update of this to show that after letting go and playing around like I used to with new ideas, this didn’t turn out like I expected...
....it turned out better 💚
Keep playing, creative folk. Do what you feels good, cause it’s YOUR art.
One of my last pet portraits before baby arrives. Such a pleasure to create this memento of gorgeous Barney. This is an A3 watercolour and acrylic on arches paper.
If you'd love your pet painted please feel free to email me at email@example.com and I'll put you on the list for when I get back to work post baby! ☺️
✨ Hey ✨ Do you still do pet portraits? I've had this enquiry a few times this past week 😅 so this is a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT : yes, absolutely 💯 I adore drawing loveable furbabies and it makes my heart glow when I receive photos like this 💖
I’ve been slowly collecting pieces for a major gallery wall project in the hallway, and by far the piece I’m most excited to frame & hang is this portrait of Mona by @joanlemay that @kduff1 gave me for our anniversary. If you’re looking for a killer gift idea, you can’t go wrong with a custom order from Joan. Her signature is creating a kooky wallpaper background with hidden meaning. See those fluffy branches? They’re cotton blossoms because this was year 2- the cotton anniversary! And the rug she’s posing on is a nod to my love for vintage textiles. Also this looks EXACTLY like Mona! Seriously, Joan does not disappoint! And now the all important ask: Who are your favorite Instagram artists? I’m looking for some more fun pieces from under the radar makers! Tag your fave accounts so I can give them my 💸 and finally get this gallery wall up!
So let me tell you a bit about my next pet model, Lulu— this client wanted to gift this portrait to her bridesmaid... buuuut long story short, this sweet gift didn’t get into her hands until TWO WEEKS after it was supposed to 😱 Even though I paid for two day shipping!
Scary artist moment: when the client told me she still hadn’t gotten the painting a day after it was supposed to be there, my stomach dropped and i legit felt sick. Never ever had this happen to me before 😪
Lesson learned: HIGHLY recommended next day shipping for any time-sensitive orders within three weeks to avoid this artist nightmare from happening again 😭
A lady stopped by my booth @bluedomefestival this year and shared a story with me about her grandmother who was an artist. When she was little she asked her grandma how she knew when she was finished with a painting. Her grandmother told her that when she got the feeling she could dance around in her own painting that is how she knew it was complete. It's hard to describe to someone else the feeling I get when I know a painting is done but that description is the best way I've ever heard it put into words. I am definitely dancing around in Copper's painting (in true white girl fashion of course 😂) Come see "the cutest pup in the world" at my solo exhibit @thehivejenks in September.

She won the third place in a giveway contest I've organized and the prize was her portrait. I got the chance to see her when I met with her owner for the portrait handover. She is such a charming tiny princess😍😍😍 I wanted to steal her and take her home 😊
I want to thank her owner for the opportunity to make the portrait of this beauty and also for the gift she gave me. It is always wonderful to have a chance to meet nice people that have such a big heart and love their pets so much 😊😊

Oz is a Rottweiler pitbull mix with a heart of gold! He’s absolutely adored by everyone he meets and goes with his mama absolutely everywhere she goes. He’s recently gone through some medical scares but came through stronger than ever. Who’s a good boy?

In honor of the finished #glitterbombportrait I also wanted to post this glittery bomb drag queen! She’s got spark and all the gorgeous. @SierraMisstNYC is not only an incredible performer but also the sweetest soul. Her Elphaba performance has got me shook. 😍😍😍
