I like the #loop better than the long band but I figure I could tie the long band into a loop (but couldn’t untie the loop into a long band). Plus I like the idea of tying my long band around the coconut tree (hello reformer springs, trx). A coconut would have to be my #ball . Or the sand piled up (#spinecorrector style). Ok, lock in long band. #notweird
Hindsight: should have chosen the ball and used it as a floaty and got the fuck off the island).

The side plank leg lift 🍑 🤓 In a study done by Boren et al in 2011, the side plank with hip abduction (dominant leg down) was found to elicit the highest maximum volitional isometric contraction (MVIC) out of the gluteus medius muscle. This exercise beat the single leg squat, traditional clamshell, and even a regular side lying hip abduction exercise for the highest isometric contraction in the glute med muscle in randomized test subjects 🤓

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, or should it be lift and squeeze like a DRAGONFLY?..
I love this upper body move! With 2-3 Yellow springs and the black cables crossed think about making a big letter Y with your arms. As you lift your arms, drop the shoulders, relax the neck and upper traps and squeeze the top of your shoulder blades together. Think about lifting up and squeezing back. As you bring your arms down, don’t release the tension in the cables. Instead bring your arms wide and out. Look for floppy cables - that’s released tension. For core control and a more intense option lift upright on your knees. And fly like a dragonfly..

It’s Friday!! Sometimes the week can be super long, and sometimes they seem to fly by... The closer we get to Xmas the days seem to be gone in a flash, but it’s important not to let your practice go in this busy period. Running around the shops and all the stress that December entails can take it’s toll, so remember to stop, breathe, stretch, relax.
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, when we get to be with our friends and family, laugh and reminisce about the year that was. and ponder the year ahead. It’s a time of good food, plenty of wine (hopefully) and a lot of fun. Don’t forget about your precious body, it’s the only one you’ve got. Give it some love, move it, stretch it and meditate.

I’ve torn my ACL… what now?
Part 1: Do I need Surgery?
You get a scan after an awkward landing and it’s revealed that you have a full thickness ACL tear. You get a sinking feeling thinking about all the stories you heard of athletes and friends who have had ACL surgeries and undergone long rehabilitations just to re-tear the graft, or tear the other side!
So do you need to have surgery to repair your ACL?
First thing to note is that the ACL has a very poor capacity for healing and so unlike many other ligaments in the body won’t heal on its own. This is the reason surgery will often be the outcome after injury. With that in mind, there is surprisingly little evidence that you will have better outcomes after surgery than you will with conservative management. With appropriate strength and conditioning the knee is often able to compensate for the lack of dynamic support created by the ACL injury. So while the jury is still out on the optimal method of recovery it would appear that trialling a conservative approach prior to surgery might help indicate how well you will cope without your ACL and if the decision is still made to have the operation you will have better outcomes from having strengthened the knee before surgery.
