These last two months have been a whirlwind of trying times and emotions full of ups and downs. I opened the shop last week and it was very bitter sweet for me. This is a dream come true for me and has been a long time in the making. My first haircut was my Grandpa. He is undoubtably the greatest man I have ever had the opportunity to learn from. He was a humble mill worker who put his entire family before himself and worked extremely hard to give them the best life he could. I have no idea who I would be without this man in my life. He has taught me so many life lessons he never had to. For years he was the only positive male role model for my brother and I. My words will never do justice to the amount of gratitude I have for him and my grandma. He paid me with a $2 bill. He told me that his mom gave him one when he was very young, and coming from a very poor town in the hills it was very special at the time. He has carried that same $2 bill for over 75 years. It was a special gift to receive. I hope to keep this going in our family..... This opening was hard for me because I was not able to share this accomplishment with my mother. From the time I started cutting hair over ten years ago she always supported me. She bought me my first pair of clippers and my first barber chair that I put in my college apartment. A little insight into my logo, the wings are for her in, hopes that her spirit is flying higher than ever and helping to carry this endeavor to heights I could never imagine. The day I passed my state boards was a couple months after she passed and I couldn’t hold the tears long enough to make it outside of the facility because I know how happy she would’ve been for me. I wanted to share this time with her so bad but I know she is still with me and proud of her baby boy....Thanks again to all my clients who have been pouring in here and supporting this vision. See you guys soon.
‼️ALERT MUST READ‼️ I will no longer be working at the groom room barbershop. Due to the upcoming law changes involving independent contractors in the state of California, this barbershop will be converting to an hourly wage. This change will cut my salary nearly in half. Like many barbers in the state who are dealing with the same dilemma I needed to weigh my options and have an open line of communication with co workers. Since I work very hard to retain my clients and give them a good experience, I feel like you should know why I was let go and my plans for the future. I made it very clear that my two options where to stay and have my pay cut, or open a shop myself. By simply inquiring about a possible location with no intention of signing papers or taking immediate action, strictly weighing my options and waiting for more information on the new laws, I was let go. I was accused of collusion and had my character slandered. My online booking with my entire client list was deleted and I was told I could no longer work in the shop, without receiving any type of notice even though I paid for the entire months rent. Due to this decision I have no other choice but to open a new location which I am absolutely excited about! I am working diligently to open as soon as possible. I have already been contacted by clients and appreciate your patience and understanding. Since my client list was deleted I would greatly appreciate all those who are considering staying my clients DM me your phone numbers so I can keep you updated with the progress of the shop and possibility of my cutting somewhere in the meantime. Thank you to my co-workers who have reached out, your kind words are greatly appreciated. I still feel extremely blessed and am looking to the future! #trusttheprocess#blessingsonblessings#barberlove#barber#redding#peopleofredding#shasta#shastacollege#enterprise#foothill#bethel#bssm#bssmredding#simpsonuniversity#simpson#menshair#menscut#tyzakthebarber#pacinos#exotics#nastybarber#barbering#love#photooftheday#me#barberlife#barbershop#barbershopconnect#reddingbarber
We love seeing the Redding community continuing to come together as the rebuilding phase approaches with more signs! It’s amazing knowing that our local contractors like Don Ajamian are encouraging and doing right by our people.
‼️ALERT‼️ Hello friends, family, clients and everyone else who see’s this post. There have been many families who have been affected by the Carr fire. One of those families happens to be my own. These are some of the most generous, hard working and loving people in this world. If you have had the pleasure in meeting them, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Their gratitude and unwavering spirit have been mesmerizing to watch during this difficult time. Their house was burned down during the fire and were only able to get out some of the necessities and the sentimental items. There were 7 people living in their multi-generational house. My Aunt Cindy (Aka mother Theresa), my cousin Craig and Wife Sharon with their two little girls Amara and Jacie, and cousin Sarah with her daughter Kiah. With only minutes to spare they were forced to say goodbye to their home. Being self employed and not being able to work during this time is calling for some outside help. So please if you have anything to give to this family I can 100% grantee you that they will be forever grateful. They will be slowly piecing together everyday items. ANYTHING HELPS! I have opened my doors and they will be living with me for the time being, Along with their two neighbors Cory and Diane who also lost their home.
We are still looking for a couple of queen beds, if anyone knows where I can get any let me know.
Thank you to all who took the time to read this post, and those who choose to donate. We are figuring this out one step at a time and will continue to take it day by day. 🙏🏾 You can donate here :
