The car strolled forward lazily on the empty road. The mountains which draped it on the side, dropped steeply into the gorge below..a few wild flowers grew at the corners and in between the rocks that jutted out every now and then. . "Take me home, country roads" played melodiously as the passengers prepared themselves for a quick afternoon nap.. She pulled down the window.. The cold air hit her hair, then her eyes and soon wrapped itself around her face to displace the locks of hair she had thoughtfully combed out to give her hair a carefully careless look..She popped her head out of the open glass, something her mother would strictly object to if she was around.. The sun was up, painting the summits, and making the river below glisten and sparkle like Christmas! The tall buildings and the busy streets had disappeared..So had the sets of disapproving eyes and disappointed voices.. What remained was a beautiful blue sky, stretching itself from one edge of the horizon to another.. She looked up.. It calmed her..
The sky inevitably and irrevocably always calmed her.. #potd#igers#happiness#hills#shortstories#stories#thoughts#penandpaper#love#travel#sky
Does rereading your own published work and WIP (work in progress) count towards a summer reading challenge? Asking for a friend who is participating in a library summer reading thing and has little time to read. Book progress has been slow thanks to summer and my kids schedules, but I'm making progress!
