WATCH: President Trump pardoned #Peas the #turkey on Tuesday, an annual pre-#Thanksgiving tradition at The White House.
Peas had beaten out fellow turkey #Carrots to get the official pardon.
#Trump noted: 'The winner of this vote was decided by a fair and open election conducted on the White House website. This was a fair election.' 'Unfortunately Carrots refused to concede and demanded a recount and we are fighting with Carrots. We have come to a conclusion. Carrots, I'm sorry to tell you the result did not change,' he added.
The birds will both live out their lives at a Virginia Tech agricultural research center.
Ok so what do #peas have in common with #menopause and the festive season? Well a lot actually – if you are trying to keep the belly fat at bay, which can be harder during this time of year; as our diaries start to fill up with festive invitations it means we are faced with taking on extra calories which will not only increase our belly fat but will not do out symptoms much good. So, when at home I try lots of different types of foods to keep me fuelled and that are packed with goodness but low on naughtiness. I love peas, as they are not only high in goodness but protein and fibre. I have found a great split pea pasta from #Napolina that I bought in #Sainsburys . As long as you don’t overcook it the taste and texture are good, it is high in protein and low on carbs. As Its all about keeping a balance this time of year as we want to enjoy going but look after our waist lines, health and menopause symptoms as well. Have a look at my stories from last night – I posted a dish that was quick and easy to do and filled me too! #protein ⠀

Guys...I am NOT a food blogger or photographer so just bear with my ugly picture of my snack tonight 😂🤣 In the spirit of turning a new plant based leaf (😁...see what I did there) I have been studying up on my favorite plants to munch on 🍃🍅🥕🌽 Tonight's snack is
Peas - rich in antioxidants and super filling. Great source of fiber and good for maintaining blood sugar. 🍃
Riced cauliflower- once again...looking at antioxidants here and rich in vitamins. Also helps with inflammation (like my raised rosacea) and has potassium!
Nutritional yeast- vitamin b (b12!!) AND supports skin, nail and hair health 🍃
Tumeric- has SO many benefits....like promoting fat loss, liver detox, lowering cancer risk, anti inflammatory (yay!), digestion, heart health

🇬🇧 900gr dry yellow split peas (chana dal) ≈ €1.20 @ mix-market (russian store).
Takes about 20-30min cooking.
Makes some kgs of super tasty food + protein.
Ps: added salt at the beginning so the peas wouldn't turn into purée, if you want it like mashed peas, add salt salt (after 20min,25min of cooking). Ps2: Pictured, for reference, a container of 1000gr(1kg) of this peas, that is more expensive.
It was about €1.90 on sale, bought it to re-use the container to store legumes.
Ps3: Try the international section of your local store if you don't find this.
Ps4: same method works for lentils (except the orange ones, those cook faster because they don't have the shell)
