I feel that each child 👶 and each family 👪is unique, with their own strengths and their own challenges. I work to understand and connect with families 👨👨👧 and help them reach their goals. Originally from northern Minnesota, I have been told I brought a bit of “Minnesota Nice” with me to Portland- Dr Todd Hiller, child psychologist. About 1 week ago, I felt God speak a “reset” into my life. He asked me to reflect on my priorities, and make sure they are where they need to be.
Well, they definitely weren’t. I was spending 4+ hours on my phone per day, I had Netflix streaming cartoons about 6+ hours a day in my house, all I could think about was 💰. So I prayed about the person/parent I was becoming VS. the person/parent that I know GOD wants me to be... I asked Him to take control of my life & to provide guidance and help me prioritize in a way that glorifies His plan for my family.
The results have been amazing so far.
Berlin’s demeanor has become much more patient, forgiving, responsive, and soft. Oliver is eating better, and is happy being content for longer periods of time. My OWN patience and happiness have gone up... and anxiety has gone down.
My house is filled with music, laughter, art, communication, and GOD 🙌🏻 I cannot wait to see where else this amazing “reset” will take us. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” Psalm 118:1
That feeling you get when you come across a Facebook post like this from a parent in our school community ❤❤❤
Parents have shared that they send their child to St. Clare because of the following reasons:

If you’ve ever noticed the close-up photographs of flowers 🌺 and other scenes from nature 🌿around our offices’ waiting rooms and exam rooms, you’ve been witness to one of Dr. Bluhm’s favorite past-times: photography He began experimenting with photography while he was in college, finding the creative process an effective outlet for stress, and a good excuse to get outdoors. “For me, photography is part of a bigger picture. While I’m taking pictures, I’m outside in nature, where I like to be – on a hiking trail, or at the Japanese Garden – which are calming places for me.” See our bio LATEST BLOG to learn more about Dr Bluhm’s passion for photography. 📸 #portlandpediatrics#photography#calming#redwoods#doctorphotographer#waitingroom#pdxparent#naturephotography#nature
It’s rosy cheeks season! And believe it or not, the time of year we get outside the most. ⠀
Since the days are shorter, daylight hours feel special. We get outdoors as much as we can to explore the secret season when the trails are less crowded and quieter.⠀
Our newest blog post is about all the things to keep in mind when winter hiking (link in bio). It’s a great time to hike with kids. ⠀
Tell us, what do you like best about hiking this time of year? 👇⠀
Time flies, life gets busy, and we know from our own experiences that planning for family time together can be stressful. We love helping families make that time together that they need. We help you make memories together that your child will value forever, one adventure at a time. And it doesn’t hurt that kids get to connect to the outdoors in the process. ⠀
That’s what our monthly and bi-monthly subscriptions are all about. A new adventure, with all the material to make it magical for your kiddo, and little nuggets of knowledge about the trail that are fun for adults too. Our online store (link in bio) now includes almost half a dozen ways to share this gift with your kids. You can start with a packet arriving before Christmas 🎄. You can choose packets for alternating months. You can go basic, or go big. ⠀
How have you started planning for family time in the year ahead? There are so many great family trails we have yet to feature in our monthly packets. We have a lot of fun material coming up next year!
A few scenes from today’s kids cookie decorating workshop and holiday cookie exchange hosted by @little.sous @portlandcookshop. We made a delightful mess, ate a ton of cookies, and created many happy memories in the process.🎄🍪☕️ Photos by the kids and @gregorhalenda #mylittlesous#portlandcookshop
Setting healthy boundaries with others (including loved ones) during pregnancy...
During pregnancy and postpartum, you might find that others have a lot of questions and opinions about your body, choices, baby, health, plans, etc. This is a great time to practice boundary setting and speaking up for yourself! Pregnancy is a time for practicing self care, and deciding what we will and will not tolerate from those around us is a big part of that.
That could look like...
Saying, "Actually, I've decided not to hear about others' birth experiences at the moment, but I would be happy to hear about it after my birth!"
"Thank you for your input, but I'm confident I'm making the right choices for my body/baby/family."
Expressing firm boundaries about visitation during and after the birth.
Saying no to engagements and activities that you aren't feeling up to.
Growing and raising a baby doesn't have to be a time full of guilt, shame, and fear over what others think. Follow your instincts and values and you are already exactly the parent your child needs. ❤️
The years go by so fast. We are here to help you make the most of your time together along the way. ⠀
Explore our gift subscriptions to help you create memories all year round. Head to the link in the bio for details.

We did it.
We started playing some Christmas music last night. 😬
I don’t feel bad. Not one bit! 😂
December is definitely my favorite holiday season. I Love Christmas, that’s what I grew up celebrating. Its’s my mom’s favorite holiday and has quickly become mine as well. It also just reminds me of home and I have such fond memories of my childhood and how magical the whole month always felt. With my mom playing Christmas music as early as November, wrapping presents and watching Christmas movies, making cookies, going to parties, the magic of that first snow! 💫
Do you celebrate any holidays during this time of year? I’m always curious to learn about other people’s stories and traditions. I’d love to hear more about yours! Comment below and let’s spread the spirit of inclusivity this holiday season! 🤩
