Let the snowball continue!!! It wasn’t much, had a balance of $472 but it’s gone!! One less monthly payment! 🎉 it was my husband’s card that he had gotten without talking to me first, long time ago before he was on board with this Dave Ramsey plan. He agreed to give up the card!! 🎉 that’s huge for him and it’s so nice to be on the same page. .
The yard next to us did not look like this 10 months ago when we moved in. This is the second time that we’ve gotten a rental property next to lots with trees and green spaces, and it’s been cleared. Can’t wait for the day when we can buy our own space. #daveramsey#daveramseybabysteps#payingoffdebt#familyonabudget
“Money is a resource to live on, NOT an answer to our discontentment”- Somer Pheobus
Many of us know the scripture in Hebrews 13 where God says: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” But have we ever paid attention to the first half of that very verse? Read it with me: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”-Hebrews 13:5
Today’s devotional through the She Works His Way app was all about money. Considering that pay day is every Thursday for my home business, this was quite timely! As an immigrant, there has always been a part of me that worries about money and instead of going to the Lord with my concerns and letting Him take the lead with finances, I try to fill the gaps on my own or let Him know my plan of action AFTER I’ve planned it (insert face palm). How about I pray THEN plan? Giving God the pen to our finances chapter changes US not just our finances. I have 3 responsibilities when it comes to God’s money (because it’s all His): to surrender it daily, to be generous with it and to steward it well. Let’s not overcomplicate it.
I’d like to leave you with a quote from Billy Graham that is taped on my laptop (as you see in the photo) to keep me alert every single day as an entrepreneur: “Success is always dangerous, and we need to be alert and avoid becoming the victims of our own success. Will we influence the world for Christ, or will the world influence us?”
My hubby. Bless him.
Whenever he has a spare moment he looks at our finances.
Today, he looked into paying off our mortgage. $700 is our magic number. If we increased our PITI payment by $700, our house would be paid off in 10 years!
Although our finances are currently tied up in Baby Step 2, we can already visualize 6!
My friend Michelle reposted this recently and it really stuck with me. I was that person who ate when she was empty, excited, anxious, depressed... really any reason. To have finally learned to fill my stomach when I’m actually hungry and fill my SOUL when the craving doesn’t come from hunger...THAT has been my freedom journey. I want that for you too.
Updated calendar for July 🌿 This was our lowest income month this year - I'm on summer break from my preschool job - and the numbers really reflect that! Follow the link in our bio to read how we're doing overall on our debt free journey.
I’ve mentioned before that I don’t count my credit cards towards my total debt amounts because they’re at 0% but I need to get in gear to clear them out before the end of the year!
🔸I need to treat these like the debts they are and pay them off ASAP those rates are killer
🔸I used my overtime money to pay off my PayPal balance completely this morning (the interest was going to start in September!!). The balance was about 5 purchases I was too lazy to pay immediately honestly
🔸I use my capital one for monthly expenses: my gym membership, soulcycle, etc. 🔸I use my Bank of America card for everything else, mainly groceries and gas for my mom. 🔸The balances have just accumulated over time, mainly last year when I got them😪
🔸I hated credit cards because I saw what they did to other people but I needed to increase my credit score to get a good refinancing rate and fell right into their trap😒 never again
Recently I took a day-cation with a couple friends! We went out to one of the local resorts/casinos to enjoy a day at the pool.
I was worried about how it would fit into my budget, but it worked out great! I was able to cashflow the day with a bit of my side hustle income. We got a great deal on our day passes (a “daybed” for the 3 of us was significantly less than if we had each bought our own day pass - SCORE!), I stuck to drinking water and soda, so I didn’t have a bar bill, and we split our meals. I made it out of the whole day-cation for $35!
I still believe that we need to have treats and days to pamper ourselves, even while on this debt-free journey. I’m still putting plenty of side hustle money towards debt, and I was able to enjoy a great day with my friends. While it’s not something I will be doing every week or even every month, I’m glad I was able to take some time to relax!
How do you treat yourself on this journey?
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. (Psalm 32:8)
God promises to instruct us with TRUTH. His guidance always leads us the right way. His word says: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21)
Let me simplify it: Our responsibility is to keep looking up and setting our hearts + minds on God. Every decision should prompt us to ask Him what He’d have us do. Sometimes it’s not about a right or wrong way but a BETTER/best way for our life and our season. The only way to know it is to seek the Author of our life!
Finally, are you someone that is known to be an advice giver? Do many come to you for help/wisdom/support? I just have a mini challenge for you. That is a huge role + responsibility. Seek God FIRST before you respond to those who are seeking advice from you. Let truth (aka discernment) guide you not emotion/gut/intuition. Those bring VERY different outcomes.
I think I’ve mentioned my why before, but I wanted to dedicate a whole post to it🧡
🔸My why is very simple: saying thanks to my family
🔸Family to me consists of my mom and grandmother. For both of them, their financial struggle was brought on by outstanding circumstances not caused by them directly, and they both did what they had to do to make it work. 🔸I have seen all that they’ve done for all of us my whole life, and the best way I know to say thank you is to help get us all to a better place together.
🔸Once my debts are squared away I’m using what I have to help my family get to the same place. The faster I pay off my debts the faster I can help my family.
🔸Mainly I never want them to worry about money again🧡
What a good day! Our kiddos got accepted into an amazing school that we’ve been trying to get them into for years. I had a meeting for a new side hustle that went amazing. Can’t wait to start! AND last but not least FREE ZUCCHINI from a friend’s garden! 😂😂😂 I love free!
Totally forgot to post what I’ve been getting rid of for the #minsgame thus month!! I lost count of the number of items but I think I’m making progress lol once this box is full it’s going to Goodwill. I’ve also sold about 7 things on Mercari this month! 🙌🏾 thanks to @mommagoesminimal for the reminder 💕
Let's talk about BS2 and BS3 shall we.
So Murphy came to visit in the form of a notification from the city. Apparently someone in my neighborhood complained about my fence looking a little shirty. So anyway I ended up getting a code violation and will be re-inspected by the end of the month. It cost a nice couple of hundreds.
This got me wondering about other crap that could happen with this house that I plan on keeping and using as a source of income once paid off.
Also I've been seeing a lot of people talking about doing more savings and I can tell you now after this car is paid off I will be revising my baby steps a little bit. I will still have about $20000 of debt to payoff but I'll be taking a "savings intermission". My BS3 goal is about 12000 for 6 months however, during my "savings intermission" I'll get my EF up to $3500 and then start paying my largest credit card of about 13000 and then on to save.
Who else is thinking about a "Savings Intermission" between payoffs?
One thing is for sure, since educating myself through the food freedom nutrition course I took in May and tracking what works and doesn’t work for my body, I LOVE to get creative in the kitchen again. My meals are never boring and the best part, I haven’t meal prepped SINCE MAY! Remember when I was a crazy meal prep person? Always having to pre portion things out and have it laid out perfectly? This course has changed my mindset and my kitchen. There is no need to be crazy about prep anymore. I can whip things up in the spot with more ease, fun, and simple principles that require no counting ANYTHING. Goodbye high maintenance Caren, hello chill Caren😎🙌🏽.
We went all in for the month of March. Our contributions which amounted to $20,070.60 came from Mr. B's lifelong savings, our tax returns and the money from our PLLC. ///
The thought of giving up our monetary cushion scared and paralyzed us. However, we mustered enough courage to trust our instincts and just go all in. ///
Seeing the drastic decrease in our balance surely motivated us to work harder. It also inspired us to get out of our comfort zone and take bigger risks.

Love love love this! Thank you @natalieblackburne for creating these amazing blends! Diffusing the first one now. I’m in the middle of doing something MAJOR guys..... I’m decluttering ALL my clothes. Legit, getting rid of stuff that’s old and hasn’t been worn in ages, even the stuff that I’ve been saying to myself “I can sew that hole and wear it again”, even the stuff that I “might” wear again. I’m tired of the struggle of getting dressed and seeing a bunch of clothes I can’t wear. I’m going to slowly start buying new clothes (on a budget y’all so maybe one or two pieces a month). Until then I’m going to rock the same pair of jeans, workout clothes and the 3 pairs of shorts that fit. #dontcarewhatpeoplethink#payingoffdebt#declutter#diffuserblends#cleanhouse#minimalism#geterdone
** not a picture of my cat **
My cat has this...and it is as scary as shit. I thought he had had a stroke.
Just walking along, his leg gives way and he ends up on the floor, howling and can't get up. He won't let me anywhere near him, hissing and carrying on. He is not himself. It lasts less than 30 seconds and then he is up again. It happens once again...then maybe once more. All in close succession. .
This is the 3rd time I've witnessed it in about 6 weeks.....and by all accounts (Google) it is serious. .
I have to get him to the vet first thing..... and hope to god they will let me pay later!! .
Up early with my sister to sit with Jesus and get our sweat on! And as you can tell from our chipmunk voices, we talked a lot during that workout 😂. My heart needed the laughter and encouragement this morning! Surround yourself with people who push you closer to Jesus and make you better, friend!
Questions for you!
1. What did read in your quiet time today?
2. What is / was your workout today?
This post is a few weeks overdo but today was #payday and I was once again reminded of the blessings Rodan and Fields has brought me! ❤️🙏🏼 I started this business in November of last year and my husband and I decided about that time that we were gonna buckle down and tackle any debt we had...which included my lovely Lexus that I bought on a loan shortly after I started my career. Well....fast forward to 6 months after we started paying off debt and I officially have the TITLE TO MY CAR!! No more car payment!! 🙌🏼 I guarantee had it not been for this business this would not have happened so fast! I took out a 6 year loan on my car, started paying it off 2 years in, and within 6 months it was payed off! Thousands of dollars payed off just like that! 💪🏼All by working from home and joining a business that is the real deal! 👏🏼👏🏼 I went into it thinking I would make a little extra spending money each month...but man was I wrong!! Imagine what you could do with even $500 extra a month?! What would you do? What would that look like for your family? IT’S WORTH IT I PROMISE! ❤️ #rodanandfields#lifechanging#skincare#bossbabe#payingoffdebt#goals#motivation#joinme#ipromiseitsworthit
I’ve been down in the dumps lately about work — over worked; under paid; under staffed that sort of commotion ... to the point my blood pressure is crazy high and not good for me and bubs. So I’ve been on my works back about hiring staff and saying how under the pump I am. A few medical days off due to my blood pressure and needing bed rest and I was treated to a card thanking me for all my hard work and a $200 Coles Myer voucher 💕💕💕 maybe I should complain more often 😂😂 the whole company got them for the work we’ve been doing while under pressure - so straight into the baby fund it went 🙌🏻🙌🏻 #voucher#babyfund#stressless#ozdebtfreecommunity
You. Guys. I was SO SO nervous kicking off 2018 because God asked me to do something that felt like business sabotage. But obedience is never really safe, right? January of 2018 I narrowed my door for our team of online coaches. It wasn’t because I didn’t love people and want them to join us, but because I realized I didn’t want just anyone with a pulse. I had to find women who were drawn to the heart and purpose of the business and not just the income growth, earned trips, and recognition. Those are not bad things, but pursuing fruitfulness instead of faithfulness leads to a very shallow business, a divided team with divided hearts, and very few lives impacted earthly + most importantly, eternally.
Meet Victoria. She and I met on Instagram just a couple of weeks ago as she was looking to revamp her morning routine to include Jesus + health. She was ready to tackle depression, anxiety, and create healthy + holy habits. We got on a call and she signed up with the food freedom nutrition course, our Netflix of fitness programs, and our superfood smoothie. A week later she asked about coaching alongside our team when she saw we do fitness with a faith focus. I sent her the video to hear the coach interest call and she was immediately drawn to the purpose and signed up. Today we had our getting started right business call and I was giddy and smiling the whole time because I feel like I have known her my WHOLE life. Literally soul sisters. And now I can’t wait to watch her lead with heart, purpose, discipline, and faithfulness trusting God with the outcome.
Team Race2Serve’s mission is right there in the picture in big bold letters. Our goal every day is to go the extra mile. Does that mission tug on your heart? Do you have a passion for encouraging others in their faith + health? Then this team could be for you. I am looking to mentor 5 women this month in the business opportunity/responsibility. Our team family is ready to welcome you, learn with you, grow with you, serve with you, and change lives with you. Are you her? Drop your email below if you’d like to hear the same coach interest call Victoria did or send me a direct email at email@example.com
🌟 Our consumer debt is at $32,860 🌟
It’s going down!! Last night $700 cleared from last weeks pays!
That's on top of the mortgage, bills, offset accounts & savings funds.
I can’t wait for this debt to be gone forever! The only things I’m ok with is the uni loans we had for our education. I’d like a career change in this decade of my life, so I’m planning on going back. I need to pay off my BA degree first.
All the rest is silly, frivolous things I thought I needed to impress people in my 20’s. Don’t do things to impress people - they really don’t care 😂 People either love you or they don’t.
Now I’m looking back all the time to pay off this debt.
For me now,
Credit = the past
Cash = the present
Savings = the future
LIFT the biggest weights with your legs [and arms] and LIFT your heaviest burdens on your
K N E E S-Jimmy Pena.
Exercise is beneficial and leaves us more effective in the present/ on earth but the goal is to also be effective in and for the Kingdom. So are you exercising your faith muscle? Exercise can never replace the comfort + peace that comes from laying our burdens down at the foot of the cross. So while exercise can release stress and give you a boost in mood, make sure it doesn’t replace your time with Jesus. Only He can comfort, sustain, heal, and restore completely. So go ahead, lift heavy weights, run your miles, stretch and breathe...but just remember, armor before iron. Put on the armor of God before you lift heavy weights. I am always rooting for you!
“For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in EVERY way, as it holds promise for the present and also for the life to come”- 1 Timothy 4:8
Not a bad effort!! 2 sales from last night and 7 today (2 items I had to post) 🎉It all adds up 💰but just as importantly... things that no longer #sparkjoy are finding a new home... freeing up space in my home 🏡 #sidehustle#payingoffdebt
💁🏾♀️ Tiny issue here... and I hope I’m not the only one this has happened to!
⏰ The time has come for me to pay off the first of two credit cards!! YAY!
☀️ AND... it’s only going to be $320-ish except...
🤦🏾♀️ That “time” was like three days ago!
😩 I’m afraid to pull the trigger y’all! — and I think it could maybe be because I’ve been broke for so long that the thought of handing over $320 (outside of tithing) freaks me out a little!
🤷🏾♀️ Has this happened to ANYONE else at all during the beginning stages of Baby Step 2!?
🧐 ...and if so, how do we make this easier? Cus I’ve got $15K to go! 🙈🙈🙈
By far the hardest part of our debt free journey is having to say NO to things from time to time. My girlfriends are all going to a charity luncheon in September but I had to be a big girl and decide that no, it’s not in the budget. September, October and November are so busy and expensive for us already with a weekend away for a hens, a charity trivia night for a little boy at daycare with leukaemia, a destination wedding and a girls trip so something had to give and the luncheon was it. I hate missing out on things like that, but taking on too much was what got us into this situation in the first place. It’s true that wherever there’s a positive there’s a negative. In my situation having lots of wonderful friends is the positive, the expense that comes with all the weddings, birthdays, baby showers, events is the negative! Not complaining at all, I’m so grateful but that lesson in the the art of not giving a eff was apparent today. What’s the hardest part of about your debt free journey?
