_________________________________________________________ #paulo_always_travelling#blogmochilando#quetalviajar#globetrotter#amoviajar#loucosporviagem#travelgram#turistando#tripadvisor#tivolipark#kopenhag#awesome_destinations#bestplacetogo#europa#ig_cameras_united#ilovedenmark#melhoresdestinos#europe_gallery#viajarfazbem#places_wow#lonelyplanet#roamtheplanet#copenhagen#dinamarca#ig_copenhagen#kopenhagen#instatravelgram#copenhague#denmark 🇩🇰 #europe_ig
🇩🇰 DINAMARCA / DENMARK - CHRISTIANSBORG PALACE ______________________________________________________ * 👀 Christiansborg Palace is a palace and government building on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the seat of the Danish Parliament (Folketinget), the Danish Prime Minister's Office and the Supreme Court of Denmark. Also, several parts of the palace are used by the Danish monarch, including the Royal Reception Rooms, the Palace Chapel and the Royal Stables. The palace is thus home to the three supreme powers: the executive power, the legislative power, and the judicial power. It is the only building in the world that houses all three of a country's branches of government. The name Christiansborg is thus also frequently used as a metonym for the Danish political system, and colloquially it is often referred to as Rigsborgen ('castle of the realm') or simply Borgen ('castle').
The present building, the third with this name, is the last in a series of successive castles and palaces constructed on the same site since the erection of the first castle in 1167. Since the early fifteenth century, the various buildings have served as the base of the central administration; until 1794 as the principal residence of the Danish kings and after 1849 as the seat of parliament.
The palace today bears witness to three eras of Danish architecture, as the result of two serious fires. The first fire occurred in 1794 and the second in 1884. The main part of the current palace, finished in 1928, is in the historicist Neo-baroque style. The chapel dates to 1826 and is in a neoclassical style. The showgrounds were built 1738-46, in a baroque style.

🇩🇪 GERMANY - ALEMANHA - SCHLOSS SCHWERIN _____________________________________ * 👀 In 1837, the ducal residence moved back to Schwerin, but the building was in a relatively bad condition, and the Grand Duke disliked the individual buildings' incongruent origins and architectural styles.
Grand Duke Friedrich instructed his architect Georg Adolph Demmler to remodel the palace. However a few months later, construction was halted by his successor, Friedrich Franz II, who wanted a complete reconstruction of the historic site. Only some parts of the building dating from the 16th and 17th cent were retained. Dresden architect Gottfried Semper and Berlin architect Friedrich August Stüler could not convince the Grand Duke of their plans. Instead, Demmler included elements of both of them into his plan, but found inspiration in French Renaissance castles. The castle became the most admired masterpiece of the student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. He also planned a government building in 1825-1826 located at Schlossstraße. Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley also inspired him and contributed to the construction from 1843 until 1851. His successor Stüler again made a few alterations, and included an equestrian statue of Niklot and the cupola.
Heinrich Strack from Berlin was chosen for the interior design. Most of the work was carried out by craftsmen from Schwerin and Berlin. A fire destroyed about a third of the palace in December 1913. Only the exterior reconstruction had been completed when the revolution in 1918 resulted in the abdication of the Grand Duke. The castle later became a museum and in 1948 the seat of the state parliament. The German Democratic Republic used the palace as a college for kindergarten teachers from 1952 to 1981. Then it was a museum again until 1993. The Orangerie had been a technical museum since 1961. From 1974 on, some renovated rooms were used as an art museum.
Since late 1990, it is once again a seat of government, as the seat of the Landtag (the state assembly of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). Since then there have been massive preservation and renovation efforts. __________________________________#paulo_always_travelling
