🚨 Over post alert. 🚨 If you ever wondered what a quilt would look like continually throw into the air and photographed, here ya go!! These photos make me laugh because not only does this quilt look super NOT graceful, it reminds me of how idiotic I looked throwing it and scurrying away fast enough to not be in the shot. I am a professional quilter thrower now. 🙋🏼♀️💁🏼♀️ I also think this quilt is the twin to the magic carpet in Aladdin - look at the last photo. 🔮 #thencamejunepatterns#meadowlandquilt#quiltsintheair#neutral#amywphotography
These different layers, about 4 meters tall, were initially deposited as a single, homogeneous volcanic ash deposit. (For the geonerds, it was deposited as a pyroclastic flow; an ignimbrite.) However, the deposit was thick and hot enough that parts were “welded” more than others. “Welding” happens when ash and pumice fragments get flattened and gaps between the fragments close. In this case, the black area was hot enough that the ash fragments apparently fused into a dense glass—obsidian.
