I was in the gym yesterday morning with my trainer. He was talking to another man during our training session and they were talking about travel. The other man, let’s call him Jim is probably in his late 60’s and was telling my trainer, let’s call him David, that he was going to return to Jamaica for the 15th year this year with his wife around the Thanksgiving holiday. He said it never gets old for him, I learned Jim is Italian and loves sunshine, palm trees and will take both and a rum punch over a 10-hour flight back to his home country of Italy anyday. •
Now maybe I wasn’t working out hard enough or my love for travel is too great, maybe both, but I could tell that David, had never been to Italy and already deemed it too far because of Jim’s comments. I was literally witnessing Jim project his fears and preferences on to David. I had to butt in and let David know that “it’s not that bad”, “it’s worth it”, “if you fly with the right airline you’ll be fine”, etc, etc, etc. I had to let him know I was speaking from experience and give him a counter perspective. •
Our thoughts and beliefs are powerful and they can be limiting if we let them. I’m pretty sure David had made up in his mind that Italy is just out of his reach. I find that funny because he pushes people to go beyond their reach everyday for a living. However, he has already allowed Jim to draw a boundary for him that played into his fears. We all need stop letting other draw boundaries for us based on their fears, needs, and wants. Don’t allow another’s fear to limit your life, stop living someone else’s version of your life and please, stop living like you get to do this again because well, you know we don’t. // #travellewell#letstravellewell

note to self: give yourself permission to pause. 💨 run. rest. recovery.

I can’t say that I fell in love with Thailand completely...although I wanted to!
I know. It almost feels like blasphemy to write that. I had so many friends and colleagues live there over the years so naturally I fantasized about moving there myself but this trip confirmed that although I enjoyed my time there I can’t see myself living there. And that’s ok! That’s the awesome part about traveling, experiencing new places and cultures and sometimes realizing you actually love where you are!
Now that I got that out the way, let me tell you about the top 5 things I enjoyed the most:
1. Thai people are probably the kindest humans I’ve ever met. I love their warmth and generosity. I love the spirit they bring into everything including car dealerships and malls with temples and shrines and at McDonalds which had a prayer-handed Ronald McDonald—I’m like yes to sacredness and intentionality!
2. I enjoyed the time I spent with the ladies of the Black Thai Affair Business retreat. Thank you @amber_aziza of dreaming this up and making it happen. My biggest biz takeaway “so many bridges” 😆 I have some work to do! (Inside joke)
3. I most definitely enjoyed the massages. (Take me back!😂)
4. My adventure with the elephants was an amazing one for the books.
5. And getting to travel through Chiang Mai trying new foods with @keepingupwithkeidra was truly delightful. Oh and the smoothies from @rusticandblue OMG!
6. Last minute bonus outing with @jubril8. He made sure I didn’t leave without seeing one of the coolest temples—Doi Suthep.
Chiang Mai is beautiful and I’ll definitely be back one day with my family to explore a little more and venture out past the city! .
Fukuoka Chocolate Guide Part 3!
Today's shop is @greenbeantobar_chocolate, a Tokyo-based chocolate maker with a second location in Fukuoka. They're one of just two makers in Fukuoka, and I was seriously impressed with the assortment and quality of their chocolates! From their "American Cookies" (which I'm officially obsessed with) to their rotating slew of pastries, I had to come here twice in my four days in Fukuoka. But there's only one thing I got both times, and that was their cassis bonbon. Pictured front and center, the cassis had three layers-- two thin layers of ganache with a soft cassis patê de fruit in the center. It was just as good the second time. Seriously. Their other bonbons were good, as well, but the cassis stuck out to me for the way it was presented & how that changed how I tasted it. Don't even get me started on their limited edition milk chocolate bankan bar! 😋🍫
Denmark’s famous House of Music @musikkenshus 🤩 It has amazing outer design with the inner functions like the round windows, which on the outside seem randomly placed but it creates varied inflows of light and setting different moods inside the building. 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰 #denmark#architecture
Over the years I’ve heard so many of my friends rave about Paris, but I’ve never heard anyone mention the sky. It’s absolutely gorgeous. This is @chateauversailles at sunset. All on the same day as my previous two pics. There are so many great things about Paris, but looking up to this natural beauty was one of my favorites.
