“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime...”⠀
“The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.” ⠀
Verses from Ecclesiastes 3 & 12. ⠀
We’ve sailed over a thousand nautical miles to get from Las Palmas to Mindelo, Cape Verde. The amount of prep that goes in to this kind of a thing – planning the provisioning, checking and re-checking the rig, safety gear, satellite phones, radars.. it never ends.
I’ve tried photographing the swell of the Atlantic (it is massive) and the sunset and the sunrises and especially the stars at night, but it is truly pointless. No picture will ever live up to reality.
I’ve swam in an ocean 5km deep, had dolphins at the bow for hours and hours, caught a Dorado (delicious), saw whales in the distance, zig-zagged between ships and oil rigs through the day and survived a night of 40knt winds while battling seasickness. I wouldn’t change a thing. Our boat isn’t fast, but it is fun. And I’m in no hurry.
We’re fixing sails and generators and all kinds of things, but hopefully tomorrow we cast off for St Lucia. We’re looking at a 2-3 week passage. Can’t wait.
G’morning Dreamers ☀️ During my morning walk through my beautiful town of Laguna Beach, California, Im always drawn to this saying artfully presented in the railing along the shore. ✨✨✨✨
I thought you might enjoy it, And remember, you will only have this moment once. I always set my daily goals. Did you define your daily goal today? You won’t achieve greatness, unless you make it a daily habit. So, Go make your dreams happen. ✨✨✨✨ #defineyourdream 🌜”In this fleeting moment, what extravagant respite as booming surf speaks its mystical passage across the undreamed depths.” •

Dear English countryside thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼... you have invoked an unknown world in me...one so familiar and ancient and in this moment new 🙏🏼🌬🍁🍂🎶🕯💞
I am making space
for wider grace
for layered cakes
for the scent of the air after night rain
for the resin of honey kisses
for firelight serenade
and running naked through hot springs
For snowed in cabin friends
and vineyard perusing
for winter warm cashmere
and pink petal silk on my skin
For the rush of the sea salt sail on clear blue water
for the hypnotic rhythm of the fly line as it brushes past my cheek
for the spicy juices of bbq cajun corn
for the promise of firefly wings
and my bare feet in the warm summer river bed
For handmade mozzarella caprese and róse that sings on my lips
for babies' chant and laughter
that rounds out into poetry
and for the wind at my back
through the hovering mountain's breathing
Feeling all of these scenes in my bones
and at once I'm home
in the senses of seasons

What are the vows being made by the divine on our behalf
that invite us all to the deeper edges of our own courage and calling. .
This land is calling me to listen ...to remember ... and to rejoice ... the grace of these larger parts of me moving me into a deeper presence within that is informing and shaping the ever expanding well of expression without ...thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼🌬🕊🕯💞
At one of his workshops a few years ago, where I got to provide a Sound Weaving intro for David Whyte, he discussed the moments of deep knowing when we are ignited into a deeper expression and expansion of ourselves... “Whatever you thought you had committed to, there will always be a deeper dynamic inside, a promise larger than your original conception, that in effect makes vows on your behalf and invites you into a different kind of courage than you first intended.”
And he speaks of this moment below for Wordsworth....
"After dancing all night, Wordsworth walked into the morning light somatically alive, casting his eyes on the beauty of day break, once and for all dedicating his life to sharing/writing his poetry free of the burden and besiegement of other’s voices.”
An excerpt below from The Prelude, by William Wordsworth...(a fave of mine)
Two miles I had to walk along the fields before I reached my home
The morning rose, in memorable pomp,
Glorious as ere I had beheld—in front,
The sea lay laughing at a distance; near,
The solid mountains shone, bright as the clouds,
Grain-tinctured, drenched in empyrean light;
And in the meadows and the lower grounds
Was all the sweetness of a common dawn
Dews, vapours, and the melody of birds,
And labourers going forth to till the fields.
Ah! need I say, dear Friend! that to the brim
My heart was full; I made no vows, but vows
Were then made for me; bond unknown to me
Was given, that I should be, else sinning greatly,
A dedicated Spirit. On I walked
In thankful blessedness, which yet survives.
