“...to be quiet enough to feel held, to feel the embrace of the divine, to realize that I am a part of something vaster than vast; and to feel that, to recognize that, to feel thankful for it, and to hope that by opening myself to that awareness, that I am allowing some of that to come through me.” ~ Marilyn Nelson, On Being “Choosing Words That Deepen The Argument of Being Alive”

Busy mamas- this one is for you!
So excited to share this new product from @freskincare! ✨New GLOW ME tinted moisturizer is perfect for all busy ladies who don’t have time to fuss with makeup. ✨ GLOW ME is a perfect light weight moisturizer with SPF 15 & a light tint. I’ve been using this for a week and LOVE the coverage it provides. It even absorbs into my skin right after spin class when my skin is still “glowing” after a serious sweat sesh. I’ve been searching for an SPF and tinted skincare that holds up to the teat, and this is it!

How many of you have a skin care brand you absolutely love? For me, I recently fallen in love with @paiskincare 💕 Thanks to a few clean beauty shops here in San Diego, they introduced me to this fabulous clean beauty brand. #partner Thanks to @crownpublishing for the #giftedcopy .
I'm a fan of these political nonfiction books. My final project for college was on the Cold War, so I needed this 😍
The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Story of Espionage of the Cold War by Ben Macintyre .
"If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6. .
For nearly a decade, as the Cold War reached its twilight, Gordievsky helped the West turn the tables on the KGB, exposing Russian spies and helping to foil countless intelligence plots, as the Soviet leadership grew increasingly paranoid at the United States's nuclear first-strike capabilities and brought the world closer to the brink of war. Desperate to keep the circle of trust close, MI6 never revealed Gordievsky's name to its counterparts in the CIA, which in turn grew obsessed with figuring out the identity of Britain's obviously top-level source. Their obsession ultimately doomed Gordievsky: the CIA officer assigned to identify him was none other than Aldrich Ames, the man who would become infamous for secretly spying for the Soviets. .
Unfolding the delicious three-way gamesmanship between America, Britain, and the Soviet Union, and culminating in the gripping cinematic beat-by-beat of Gordievsky's nail-biting escape from Moscow in 1985, Ben Macintyre's latest may be his best yet. Like the greatest novels of John le Carré, it brings readers deep into a world of treachery and betrayal, where the lines bleed between the personal and the professional, and one man's hatred of communism had the power to change the future of nations."
it’s going down with this mac n cheeze from @daiyafoods, and it’s guud.
I get asked all the time if you can be an intuitive eater with food sensitivities and the short answer is yes. (The long answer with ‘how’ is up on my blog, link in my stories)! I know it’s possible, because I am one of them.
Dairy is a food that doesn’t really work well for my body
which is the main reason why I use alternatives like @daiyafoods and let me tell you, their new Mac n cheeze flavors are 🔥. My boyfriend agreed!
It’s creamy, full of comfort and the entire meal came together in about 10 minutes- which is perfect for a cozy weeknight meal. I topped mine with six chili powder & green onions 🤤 it’s seriously the most legit boxed Mac n cheeze I’ve ever had

I was surprised to find this book @aaknopf #partner not the typical story of the “runaway slave” whose life ends in misery and despair. Instead, Washington Black is a story which dwells on the different meanings people attribute to freedom. •
Washington Black, the main character, is just a child in a Barbados plantation when he is rescued from the cruelties of his master by inventor and abolitionist Christopher Wilde. ”Titch” takes him as his assistant and treats him as equal. They develop a type of hot-air balloon which will enable Washington’s escape from slavery. Together, they roam the world from Barbados to Virginia, the Arctic, England, and to the Netherlands. When Washington is abandoned, he suddenly finds himself face to face with freedom, something he finds more difficult to deal with than just following orders and letting others decide his own fate. This is, perhaps, the true moral of the story.
I was a bit taken aback by the many coincides taking place throughout the story, making the plot feel rather forced and unnatural. I would recommend it all the same, especially after having been longlisted for the Manbooker Prize. •
#partner A huge thank you to @jarrettlerner for sending me a copy of his Feb 2019 release, REVENGE OF THE ENGINERDS.
In this sequel to ENGINERDS, Ken and his buddies are trying to track down a runaway robot, but new disturbance in the nerd force (named Mikaela) is causing friction. Ken struggles with feeling on the outside of the nerds as they band together to focus on a different problem, but can they all find a way to come together before disaster strikes?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and appreciate its humour, while also also seeing real depth to it. I think Mikaela is an excellent addition to the nerds, and will help the book appeal to an even wider audience. The short chapters are wonderful for readers building confidence, and I believe this book will be another hit! Kids who loved the first book are definitely going to need this one as well, and I’m anxious to add it to my collection.
Let’s be serious, I’m not objective about this book because of my high regard for the author 😉, so you’ll just have to pick this one up in February and judge for yourself.
••As the colder weather approaches, the more time I’ll be spending on the couch reading••
