I put the tricky Milky Way Sampler blocks in the naughty corner for an evening and worked on some paper-pieced fussy cut economy blocks instead. These are such a quick and easy sew, perfect for reigniting the sewjo. I also addressed the lack on dinosaurs in my blocks so far, which made my little man happy.
For some reason I always feel compelled to sew all the paper piecing projects at once (while I've got an old needle in), even though it only takes about 30 seconds to swap the needle over. Does anyone else find that? I also do the same when using my serger (sew all the projects that need the same thread colour), even though I can usually re-thread it in under 5 minutes. It's strange the things we do to avoid the boring jobs. 😂
I always share this tip, whenever it's time for me to replenish my hexie papers. I know what some of you are going to say...why do this when you can just buy hexie papers? Let me enlighten. 😊 1. These are free. 2. There will come a time when you are doing custom sizes or shapes, where you won't be able to buy them, because they won't exist. 3. Copy paper is thinner than store bought papers, which means they are easier to stitch through. They won't last as long, but again... they're free.
Okay, only print one copy. Stack it on top of 5 plain sheets, stitch around the perimeter, then cut through all layers. They won't shift as you cut, and will therefore be exact. Scroll through the pictures for visual. P.S. you can print on thicker grade paper, but you will want to reduce bulk by only layering three or four sheets. #englishpaperpiecing#englishpaperpiecingtip#paperpiecing#paperpiecingtip#paperpiecingtrick
Starting a new project! I've been loving the Neverland line by Jill Howarth @zippyboro for @rileyblakedesigns for awhile. Then when I saw @gnomeangel had a bundle in her shop... well it had to happen.
The colours are gorgeous, the motifs are cute and all the prints are filled with stars which are one of my fave shapes. So it was only natural there needed to be stars in this project! A bit of FPP and I'm loving how this is going. (And how cute is that little mermaid!). It's nice to have a bit of sewjo stirring!
This next section (made of 8 smaller subsections) took nearly 3.5 hours. Sometimes I wonder about this need I have to challenge myself—whew, only 60 seconds subsections to go. Gotta keep plugging! #paperpiecing#violetcraft#sewinginsweden
My second #crookedchristmastree . I love these cute trees! But those cute angles were almost the death of my pp’ing! I had to rip way more times than I would of cared! Now to get at least one more together!

Final installment of my quilt series is up on the blog!! It was the most fun, most creative, and the most physical part of making the whole quilt. But the entire process was so worth it, to see my handmade quilt on our bed is incredibly rewarding. Check it out!!
Mission complete! The Brown Bear brothers were sending a message: come into our forest and cut down our trees, we're gonna steal them back! They high fived each other as they roared away. Maybe they'd stop off for some celebratory pancakes on their way back to the forest - they'd earned them. #tellmeastoryblockswap#intentionalpiecingbook#paperpiecing#blockswap
