Inktober Day 11: ⚱Pandora⚱ "Pandora, (Greek: “All-Gifts”) in Greek mythology, the first woman. According to Hesiod’s Theogony, after Prometheus, a fire god and divine trickster, had stolen fire from heaven and bestowed it upon mortals, Zeus, the king of the gods, determined to counteract this blessing. He accordingly commissioned Hephaestus (a god of fire and patron of craftsmen) to fashion a woman out of earth, upon whom the gods bestowed their choicest gifts. In Hesiod’s Works and Days, Pandora had a jar containing all manner of misery and evil. Zeus sent her to Epimetheus, who forgot the warning of his brother Prometheus and made Pandora his wife. She afterward opened the jar, from which the evils flew out over the earth. Hope alone remained inside, the lid having been shut down before she could escape. In a later story the jar contained not evils but blessings, which would have been preserved for the human racehad they not been lost through the opening of the jar out of curiosity. Pandora’s jar became a box in the 16th century, through a mistranslation." I had a rough time drawing this idk why

I have HOPE!!! One of our most important human traits is having the ability to hope. To be able to think ahead in an optimistic manner about our future, both earthly and spiritual, is to many of us the main essence that keeps up striving. Throughout our lives our hope is challenged, shaken, and sometimes even exhausted. I chose to make this piece because my hope has been repeatedly bombarded and defied this year. Humanity is at a crossroads and in my opinion hope’s driving force is the key to overcome most obstacles. If hope is not kept alive there is no light and darkness will take over. However, hope is not enough being aware of the origin of our tribulations is imperative. Most of the origins of the difficulties in our modern world are based on the lack of empathy for fellow humans, because of greed, because of racism, hate, weapons, disease, poverty, climate change and the denial of it. Furthermore, I believe it is imperative to be informed of the causes of evil because having an informed grasp of reality will enable us to have real hope, not a false distorted one. 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21.... I can see it in my garden. Fibonacci found a rhythm, a pattern. Perhaps this is a doorway to the universe. Beyond our five senses. Our sixth sense. Or third eye. Energy finds balance, strength and growth to this sequence. Spirals like riptides, wind and water currents. Its essential not to fight the tides forever. Rather, feel it and ride. And fight for your life. Open your third eye. Accept your limitations until you outgrow them and learn to fly. Don't become adulterated by the evil in the world. Sometimes it can't be changed. Sometimes it shouldn't be changed. Roll with the tides. My best advice to a kid is don't be afraid to fall, do it with all your heart!
@siiimone wrote this for you 😘

Telling my students in class tonight about Pandora's jar:
ME: So Zeus put all of the miseries of humanity into the jar: war, disease, poverty-
4th GRADE STUDENT: Puberty...
ME: (Looks at student with awe and admiration)
STUDENT: Cause puberty is pretty much the worst thing ever.
I tell ya, this kid may be that drop of hope that was in the jar. In case you're keeping track, this is the same student who for Halloween went as the vampire/cat/with an axe in case there are psycho clowns. #mystudentsrock#teacherlife#pandorasjar#pandorasbox
