What goes inside: 1 banana, half a lemon, around 200ml of coconut water, 1/4 of a cucumber and 1 table spoon of hemp seeds. I already understood that all the smoothies that have cucumber+coconut water tend to be may favorites 😅

I’m pretty sure I found Paleo bread that tastes just like the real thing! These cutie dinner rolls were straight of out the box and took me less than 3️⃣0️⃣ minutes from start to finish! I used @simplemills Artisan Bread Mix. To add a little more flavor, I added a few teaspoons of Rosemary to the mixture 🤤 SO 👏 GOOD 👏 OH and each serving has about 12g of carbs. So this bread is a win, win, win in my books! .

I sautéed shredded carrots, mushrooms, garlic, chopped shitake mushrooms, onions in ghee with smoked paprika and turmeric. Then added zuchinni noodles, @bubbiespickles sauerkraut and @gefen_foods kosher, egg free and gluten free noodles made from potato and tapioca flour. One of my favourite ways to eat eggs is like this! Hard boiled, then mashed, a little homemade whole egg mayo and then just let your imagination loose! Today's flavour is nacho cheese using Mexican spices and savoury yeast flakes. When I don't get time to make my own seed crackers these @carmanskitchen ancient grain ones are the bomb! 💣💥😋

to make - add about 2 lbs of stew beef to your crockpot, and mix with arrowroot powder, salt and pepper. chop up carrots, potatoes, celery and any other veggies you want and add those on top of the beef. add broth (i use kitchen basics vegetable broth - it’s #whole30 compliant!) and set your crockpot on low for about 8-10 hours #septemberwhole30

I’ve been a little MIA, but I’m still here! Our fridge broke a few days ago, so while our meat is safely stored away in the freezer, we can’t safely store anything in the fridge. This means no meal prep, so we’ve been finding Whole30 compliant options on the go! Tonight Alicia prepared pistachio mint crusted leg of lamb, roasted asparagus, mashed potatoes, string beans, and gravy 😋

Lamb: marinate overnight with salt & pepper, juice of 2 lemons, slit holes to stuff garlic inside of meat, and olive oil.

Pistachio crust:  1/2 cup salted pistachios, one bunch mint, olive oil, onion, garlic, and rosemary. Put all ingredients in food processor, slowly incorporate olive oil till you get a nice crunchy peanut butter texture. Cook meat  for 1 hour without the crust on 300.  Add the crust and cook for another 45-60 minutes on 400.

Why are vitamins important???
As I’ve been doing my studies for my holistic nutrition program, I have learned so much about health in all different cultures and through different time periods! It’s honestly so interesting to me to learn about the ways that people in other cultures have used food as medicine over the past thousands of years. In 1928, Szent-Gyorgyi found that the absorbic acid in citrus fruits was extremely powerful for curing scurvy and was later named vitamin C. Other vitamins throughout the years were used to cure so many diseases from Beri-beri to rickets and so many others! These diseases were completely reversed by simply addressing the nutrient deficiencies. Rickets is a disease in which there is a softening of bones, muscle weakness, and pain in the spine which was found to be reversed by adequate amounts of vitamin D added to the diet. Some of these diseases were even fatal such as pellagra which was reversed with vitamin B3. The list goes on and on and the crazy thing is that so many of these diseases have symptoms overlaps with diseases that people struggle with today! Over 100 years ago, it was discovered that vitamins were also necessary components to life and without them, disease developed. As someone who has struggled with a vitamin D deficiency for years (it’s finally in the normal range whoooo!!!) I have seen first hand how important vitamins and minerals are to health. If you aren’t feeling like your ideal self, a vitamin deficiency could be to blame! However, it is possible to take an excess amount of certain vitamins so it’s important to work with a functional medicine doctor or nutritionist to monitor levels or symptoms! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It’s Apple season 🍎 Here’s an easy recipe for applesauce that doesn’t require you to peel the apples, just toss them into the slow cooker.
I’ve been having some unexplained issues with digestion lately. Honestly, I think it comes from the stress of being sick and the anxiety I feel on a daily basis. 
Here’s what I’m doing at mealtime to help make digestion go a little smoother. 🍽Sit down. It’s important to stop, sit and focus. I’m so much more relaxed when I’m sitting vs standing. 🍽Slow down. When I’m chasing after my toddler, I don’t usually have much time to enjoy my meal. I usually just scarf down food as fast as possible to keep up with my little ball of energy. I know a lot of you can relate. I’ve been trying slow down and actually taste my food and try not to rush. 🍽Eat with intention. I’m trying to be more present when I eat because there are days I don’t even taste my food due to being completely distracted. I need to listen to my body more and focus on the meal. 🍽Be thankful. It’s really hard not to associate pain with food. I need to be better at being thankful for the nourishment that even my limited number of foods provides.

I’m not a fan of super sweet salad dressings but I like this Pumpkin Maple vinaigrette. The maple syrup adds just a little bit of sweetness. Not sugary sweet just natural pumpkin sweet. It’s a great balance between sweet and savory.
