End of Manchar Lake blog.
Fishermen Ghulam Ali says; before the toxic water entered within the lake, life was good, manchhar was entirely different than today. In the 1970s, a sequence of drains and canals were constructed to carry dirt to the lake from numerous major cities in Sindh and the structure, known as the Right Bank Outfall Drain (RBOD), also dumped into the lake immeasurable quantities of salty water drained from the right bank of the River Indus to make the surrounding land arable. Rejuvenate continued RBOD 2 started constructing in 2001 between Sehwan and Thatta, drain was being thrown in Manchhar Lake to Gharo. Mai Manchhar kept screaming silently, yet no one heard. We big city people kept constructing drainage systems RBOD 3 etc and ruined this beauty. While leaving for Hyderabad, I was upset and wondering will these fellows, fishes and migrant birds get back their homes? Will this lake ever stop screaming? Or anyone of us roaming in luxurious cars with protocols will hear the silent screams of this lake? Maybe no..
Salam aleikum everyone ! I know it's been a while -here's a part of a few drawings I've completed this month .
No my exams are still going on and no they are not going well -don't ask.
A bit about the drawing -the writing next to it says WE THINK WE KNOW BETTER . It's a piece of thought that keeps coming to me. We as humans think that our problems are the most important problems than anyone else's . We're so self centered all the time that we forget to consider and realize that there are others around us -who in turn are also busy with their own stuff . We think that we have got it planned that what we know is superior and more authentic than what the other is saying . We think that we matter most than anyone else . I'm not trying to make a point here btw just collecting pieces of thoughts that formed this drawing .
Anyway hope yall like it !❤❤❤
Collin David (1937-2008) was a Pakistani painter. He studied fine arts at the Punjab University and University College London. He taught at Punjab University and National College of Arts, Lahore for 20 years. He was known for his figurative paintings. In 1990, when he opened an exhibition at his house in Lahore, the far-right vigilantes attacked his home, damaged paintings on display and manhandled guests. This post is in memory of this brave artist and a tribute to his courage. Its also a reminder that art lives on while oppression dies its own death. #collindavid#artist#art#pakistan#pakistaniartists#paintersofinstagram#painters#paintings#artwork#colours#lahore
