According to Facebook, I finished this painting 5 years ago (I can’t believe it has been that long since my first year out of school 😂). I figured I would take the chance to introduce myself a little (for the few of you who don’t actually know much about me) 🌸 - I’m 23 (almost 24) years old and currently live in Cape Town, South Africa - I’m a qualified Occupational Therapist (if you don’t know what that is, you’re not alone - feel free to ask me for the very excited and long explanation). I’m currently locuming in physical rehabilitation type settings, and I love it 😍 - OT and painting are two of the things that bring me the greatest joy in life; people and art 👌🏻
- My greatest joy comes from being a child of the most high and having a personal relationship with my Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ - I’m dating the most wonderful guy, who is currently pastoring it up in London, UK #longdistance#itcanendnow
- I’m very family orientated; they drive me nuts, but I love them to bits - I’m slightly more extroverted than introverted, but it can depend on the day. Explains the love of both OT (extrovert space) and art (introvert space) - I’m probably one of the most sensitive people you could ever meet, and crying is a reaction for most emotions experienced 😂
- I love painting flowers and scripture 🌸
- And there’s a bunch more, but this is getting too long ☺️ nice to meet you!
A few more brush strokes made a big difference with these two pears-giving them more solidity. They are painted on birch plywood and I will show it again with the blue tape peeled off. (I am kind of wondering how it will look! Should I put dark red around the perimeters or leave the painting running off into the border?) #backyardproduce#stilllifepainting#redpears#impasto
Started this 10x12” at the Deschutes River the end of August...Met two friends to paint out for the Oregon State Iniversity Land Grant Art Show at La Sells Stewart Center in October...Touched it up yesterday in my studio. A few more strokes then I will call it done. #osu150#deschutesriver#lasellsstewartcenter
Back to work today - finishing touches; swipe to see details. My affinity for all things Native American comes from the family myth of my grandfather being part Creek. He looked the part - a grand figure with high cheekbones and the quiet countenance of a man who sees all. My English mother raised me with knowledge of how the Indians were the first true Americans - getting her citizenship gave her an education of America and the plight of the Native American people. She was always a great passionate proponent for the underdog. Well, recent DNA testing put my grandfather’s myth to bed! 🙁 I was disappointed to be 90% England, Wales & Northwestern Europe, 7% Ireland, & 3% Norway! 🙀 nothing to see here 😂. Anyway, I’ve had a photo on my computer of this mother and child for decades...It’s a 1910 B&W photo in the public domain. It has always spoken to me and I decided to paint it while waiting for my DNA results. I haven’t named it yet, and I loved making up colors and a background - it still speaks to me in so many ways. The plight of Native Americans and the plight of women/mothers strikes like an arrow through my heart. Women are finally finding a voice of late - I cannot tell you how happy that makes me. ❤️ #oilpainting#figurepainting#love#motherandchild#contemporaryrealism#art#artistoninstagram#instamood#instadaily#life#westernarthistory#history#paintwhatyoulove#nativeamerican#littlestoriesofmylife

My Mango Embryo...remembering my late husband’s practice of drying the mango seed after eating a mango and then carefully cutting it and opening it to reveal the absolutely gorgeous seed inside and then making necklaces out of them ( swipe to see such a seed), because I’m rather addicted to mangos at the moment I got curious about what’s dwelling inside and have also started to dry them and open them up in order to paint them. The one in the next picture was already squeezing out of the womb (anybody else wondering if this is actually a stork baby??)..so I’ve “ incubated” it for a bit until I can properly plant it to see if it will survive in the Austrian Alps.. needless to say I‘m having my doubts.. but the one from yesterday is absolutely amazing looking so It became my immediate still life subject..swipe a few times to see one of the tokens my husband left behind..😊#naturesgifts#mangolove#doitfortheprocess#watercolor#paintwhatyoulove#paintwhatyousee#naturalpigments#artsbymcmpalette#sayyestolife
