Okay, time to get back at this. I have to start recognizing signs telling me I need a break. The last little one I posted went on the toss pile. I was throwing good paint on bad. I’d see a glimmer of hope for it, chase it and lose it. Then I had to beat myself up a bit, until I realized that I’d been working a lot, without a break, for awhile. And I was tired of doing little ones, but was forcing it because tis the season.🎄 I had a little weekend getaway planned which was perfect. So, back in the saddle with a new blue added to the family. Working out some sky colors with Prussian blue with light blue. How do you know when you need to take a break?

I missed my first shot, d'oh! then hit 14 for 14 from 10 yards.

Advice inspired by my boy❤️ and his turtle!💕 “slow down mummy”
They just keep rolling in, so maybe it’s time to learn to ride the waves. 
In the moment when waves start building in front of your eyes, it can be daunting.
The more you choose to deal with one wave at a time rather than overwhelming yourself thinking about the next five waves, the easier it will be, to handle the wave you’re riding.
This last week I’ve found myself overwhelmed.
I’ve gone from having very minimal appointments to having several, without decent gaps of rest in between.
I’ve felt anxious about the appointments knowing the cost they have on my energy and the effect they have on my symptoms overall. 
I felt like having them so close together it was just not going to work.
The second I stopped and forced myself to focus on one thing at a time and trusted in myself that I will know how to handle myself in each of the situations and after them to optimise recovery, the more I realised it was possible to get through this week without hopefully falling in a heap. 
One more appointment to go! Wish me luck 😅 and I hope all of you cope okay with whatever kind of week you have ahead 💞

FATIGUE -  SPOON THEORY

The Spoon Theory is a story by Christine Miserandino.  The theory is a helpful way to understand the fatigue experienced by individuals with chronic illness, depression, acute stress or strong anxiety.  Units of energy are described as “spoons”, which are finite and easily used up without adequate self care.

According to the theory,  the difference between being unwell and healthy is having to make choices or to consciously think about your energy use.  To have to carefully consider how to use the 10 spoons in your drawer, rather than assuming you always have more energy/spoons to use.  For the most part, healthy individuals do not need to worry about the effects of their actions on their energy reserves. 
For people with fatigue issues, especially those related to chronic illness, having depleted and low reserves of energy can effect all aspects of daily functioning.  Being fatigued effects mood, coping, thinking processes (see my post: Foggy Brain), work ability and productivity, ability to socialise... the list goes on unfortunately.

Understanding and empathetically supporting people with fatigue is helpful.  It is not laziness, can be extremely frustrating and can detrimentally effect self esteem and confidence.  If you suffer from fatigue issues, sharing this story may assist others to understand your experience with greater empathy and compassion.

Patience is the propensity to wait calmly in the face of frustration or adversity. When we have more patience we are more calm, less anxious, more mindful, generally happier and more content. 
When we are more patient our relationships flourish. Rather than being irritable we are accommodating and calm.  There is much less potential for conflict and our relationships are more harmonious as a result.

Being patient is often linked to more realistic expectations of ourselves and others, helping to combat perfectionistic tendencies and thinking.
