This time last week I’d just completed the Cradle Mountain Overland Track in @tasmania. An amazing experience. Feel privileged to have been given the opportunity. So many 📸 but here are my faves from each day, 1-6. #tigertrek18#overlandtrack#cradlemountain#tasmania
December is one of my favorite times for Facebook memories (yes I know this is Instagram relax) because I’m always reminded of that time my dad flew across the world to backpack the Overland Track with me. For his first ever backpacking trip he came prepared with (what he apparently deemed were the essentials): an iPad, a solar charger, a 3 lens attachment for his iPhone, a snake venom extractor kit, and a flask of whiskey. As the saying goes, “To each their own, but you better not complain about pack weight with all of that extra stuff, DAD.”.
Day 3 on #theoverlandtrack . Walking out in the open amongst the buttongrass, under the ☀️ were our favourite sections of the hike. There's something great about looking behind you and seeing a mountain in the distance that you were on the otherside of a few hours prior.
Had a really tall pack for some reason and it was raining for three days pretty much but that didn't stop me keep on walkin'. The rain made the forests more beautiful anyway. And that's what life is about...one step at the time. No need to focus on the destination, it's all about the journey. #overlandtrack @tasmania #hikingadventures
Day 3 on #theoverlandtrack .
This photo was taken early in the day, just before the turnoff to Mt. Ossa. There, we discovered a fellow hiker's backpack completely torn up by some currawongs, food strewn all over and they even busted one of his camelpacks. We heard those pesky birds laughing in the nearby trees. We skipped Ossa, reached Kia Ora but decided to push on a little further to Bert Nichlos (Windy Ridge) for our last night.
Overland Track Transport is now a proud seller of National Park Passes in Tasmania. Along with your Overland Track pass, you will also need a National Park pass for your Overland Track adventure. Save time (and be sure you purchase the correct pass) with us on our website or on the bus as we take you to Ronny Creek (the start of the Overland Track) https://overlandtracktransport.com.au/collections/shop/products/national-park-passes
We were halfway between Waterfall Valley and Lake Windermere at this point. We eventually reached Windermere by 11am and decided to push on a further 16.8kms to New Pelion Hut for our 2nd night on the OT. The ☀️ went down around 6pm, and with nothing left to do we retired to bed and watched our previously downloaded movies. In hindsight, we should of brought a lantern and some ♥️♠️♦️♣️.
Some days I am clearly on the path, some days I am not!
Remembering kindness to self is my compass. Without this nothing of true value can be achieved.
Some days I even forget this.
~And that’s ok~
This was one of those clear days 😊❤️
Goodbye and see you Tasmania.
I could spend good time in Tasmania for many lovely and respectful people.Their place is many people are helping each other . I enjoyed talking with them about features, life, environments, community.I could feel happy is usual day, it don’t do special things.Meeting them made my life change .
I’m starting to go back and start my life in my place .
Thanks for the chance to meet everyone and see you 💕
Dunes for Days ☀️ If your heading to the #tepakisanddunes get ready to be mind blown. These go for ever, they are huge. You can take your own or hire a body board and surf down them. Or just roam and watch others get their surf on👌🏽
Day 2 on the Overland Track. It took us
6 gruelling yet awesome hours to reach Waterfall Valley the day before. There we saw our first and last wombat. We were greeted with a few other travellers, some of which had gastro 🤢🤮. Thankfully, we didn't catch anything!
Day 1 of the iconic Overland Track. My very first #greatwalk in speculator Tasmania, having flown down from Queensland. Our journey would take us approx. 85kms from Cradle Mountain to Lake St. Clair, Australia's depepest lake (160m). Day 1 was physically the most exerting, yet it offered the most breathtaking views of the area. Plus, it was the first time I ever saw ❄☃️!
Get in your vehicle and go.. there’s a whole other world out there. Show your kids, take your partner.. go solo if that’s your jam. But natures beauty and our country is well worth your time 👌🏽 #laketarawera
