After an ill-timed ankle injury to the old man pushed our Kokoda trip to next season, I'll be embarking on a different type of adventure instead. The Overland Track in Tasmania awaits - 120 odd kms over 7 days with everything I need strapped to my back. Here's me looking like its my first day at school - filled with nervousness, excitement and a healthy dose of ignorance.
With its ancient rainforests and alpine heaths, Tasman Wildeeness Area is home to iconic Cradle Mountain.
The park is one of Tasmania’s most special places, where ancient pines fringe glacial lakes and icy streams cascade down rugged mountains.
A walkers' paradise, with leisurely lakeside strolls and longer forest walks and home to world famous Overland Track.
The park is a Unesco World Heritage.
Mrs Team Hiker is still down & out after 2 hospital visits with her Herniated disk... 8 & half weeks on she is slowly getting there with less pain everyday so she is now itching 2 get back out hiking & getting Milford track fit & ready 4 Jan 2019, till then she finally got around 2 sewing her Overland track patch on her adoring Backpack Doris ❤️ which we walked back in April #milfordtracktraining#overlandtrack @arianeando @cjphoto_theworldeyelove @4priljad3 @johnydphotography @p.jacobz @linkinparkdog
Our last main stop before getting back on the boat was Cradle Mountain. I did the Overland Track when I was in school and absolutely loved the Cradle Mountain area! We stayed in the back packers as the weather was awful and we didn’t want to have a wet camper the next day that would be sitting on the boat. It was so nice to have a warm room and a big kitchen again! Unfortunately Cradle Mountain did not peep out from behind the clouds but it’s still such a beautiful area to explore! - Tasmania 2017
