Lee and I do what we do because we know it works, and we can successfully replicate it time and time again, often with great success. Combined we've got 50+ years of experience so we're both a little skeptical of fads, hyperbole, and speculation. I think a lot of that comes from understanding no matter how good we are, no matter how many hours, days, weeks, or years of experience we bring to the table, we're still students of the craft, and the principles of our craft have always been the same. We're not "all hat, and no cattle" or "rhinestone cowboys" like some "marketers" tend to be. We've been at this long enough that we can say we've mastered a few things - we've become "Wagon Masters" on the trail - and we love doing those things to help our clients #CircleTheWagons and grow their businesses. But we're also committed to doing the right thing, with time-tested principles and practices... (FULL STORY ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE)...

So much went down since our last episode of #BehindtheWheel ... Wheelie HQ has new digs! As we moved into our new air conditioned office, we wrapped up a project for @10barrelbrewing's Apocalypse IPA - that took us from bridge jumping to mountain biking to long boarding all over town. 🍺 Swipe for all three parts!
Online comparison charts make shopping easier which is why people love them. Useful charts have Jedi-like power to book sales and reduce returns.
But many charts confuse visitors and waste their time. Like a chart I recently found while shopping for backcountry skies. It listed specs for a variety of skis - price, dimensions, weight and radius. But as a newbie to the sport, I had no idea which skis would work for my body and ski goals.
These guidelines will give your feature-comparisons the power to sell like a Jedi.
1. Answer the questions your visitors have. Example - the chart tells me dimensions, but I don't know if the skis will fit my height. Improvement - Tell me the height range for each product.
2. I wanted to know which conditions these skis perform best in, like spring conditions, deep powder or long ski tours.
3. Make sure all information is complete. Missing info frustrates prospects and sends them to your competitors to fill in the missing pieces.
4. Your chart needs to be easy to read on mobile devices. Float product names and column headers, so they always appear when people swipe through your chart.
Get feedback through short online surveys to improve your chart and give it the mojo to sell like a Jedi.

“If you buy a backpack from Amazon, you’re not going to get a Triple-Crown hiker fitting it for you.” - @nextadventure employee Andrew Sullivan, who we profiled in the IDEAS section, “Employee of the Month.” (Issue 4, Summer 2017)
Next Adventure general manager Mike Turner adds, “Vendors often get caught off guard when Andrew offers to pick up the check for lunch, sends out a thank-you letter in the mail, or stokes out reps at tradeshows with a thoughtful gift.”

Twice each year, vendors and visitors from around the world head to Portland, OR for The NW Materials Show, a major trade show for the footwear, apparel, textiles and components industries. The Materials Show is the perfect place to catch up with the design community. When we go - whether as @insidefashiondesign or as our design side, @creativecapitaldesign - we connect with old friends and colleagues, walk the show floor, and attend presentations to find out what’s new and next. It’s how we keep our fingers on the pulse of what’s happening in materials and componentry.
The next NW Materials Show is coming up on August 15 & 16th, 2018. Visit www.insidefashiondesign.net to read about what we’re looking forward to at the show! Link in bio! #insidefashiondesign#nwmaterialsshow
Whether chasing new PR leads at a trade show or designing a sleek newsletter campaign for a client, it can be easy to get caught in the daily rat race.
Once a year we take a couple days off to reflect on why we do what we do and spend some much needed time outdoors. #darbyretreat#darbyway

Up on the blog is a recap of our amazing hike on the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park. This is a long but easy hike that has epic mountain views! And for some reason, every person we talked to that day was from Wisconsin! Ha ha! Thanks again for coming with me @maraoutside!
What power do YOU have, as part of the #outdoorindustry community?
How about: 3 million comments in support of public lands submitted last year, 7.6 million direct outdoor jobs, $5 billion in funding for outdoor recreation, and 4 new offices of outdoor rec established in 2017 —and more already in 2018.
Together, we are a force.
And every single member of OIA and the outdoor industry contributes to that force.
Together, we can support public lands, make more sustainable gear, get more people outdoors, and do good for the planet. #TogetherWeAreAForce
