Impressively staged scene of the coronation of Macbeth, which is happening between 01:43:25 and 01:42:40 - an interval of time between registered Duncan’s murder and Macbeth’s demise. Best known for her roles on the popular television shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls," the late Bea Arthur was also once a truck driver in the Marine Corps. She was one of the first members of the Women's Reserve and, aside from driving military trucks, Arthur was also a typist.
She enlisted at the age of 21 in early 1943 under her original name, Bernice Frankel. Appraisals from her her enlistment interviews described her conversation as “argumentative” and her attitude and manner as “over aggressive” -- fitting, given the cantankerous characters she would play later in life. In a handwritten note, the Marine interviewer remarked, “Officious--but probably a good worker -- if she has her own way!”
Arthur was stationed at Marine Corps and Navy air stations in Virginia and North Carolina during her career, and was promoted from corporal to sergeant to staff sergeant. She was honorably discharged in September 1945, married a fellow Marine (Private Robert Aurthur) shortly afterwards, and changed her name to Bea Arthur before enrolling in the Dramatic Workshop of the New School in New York in 1947.
After a successful Broadway career that included a Tony award, Arthur made a splash as "Cousin Maude" in the classic TV series "All in the Family" in the early '70s, and went on to star in her own sit-com, and cement her celebrity fame and status as a gay icon in the long-running show "Golden Girls." #LadyVeteransProject

On December 15, 2015 (3 years ago) the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) released its final report on Canada’s negative treatment of Indigenous people as a "cultural genocide” and outlines the legacy of more than a century of assimilationist policies and human rights violations. The journey of Truth and Reconciliation has just begun, but it is far from over. "Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children." ~Tatanka Iyotake (Sitting Bull) 🙏🏽✨
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
On December 15, 1890, Tatanka Iyotake (Sitting Bull) was assassinated. An Indian agent had ordered his capture, because the U.S. government was afraid of his power and influence and of the ghost dance movement. 39 policemen and 4 volunteers were sent to arrest one man, Sitting Bull.
When they went to his house to arrest Sitting Bull, he refused to go. Then the police shot Sitting Bull in the chest & head. Lakota loyal to Sitting Bull confronted the police, and killed a total of 9 of them, including the officer who shot Sitting Bull.
Tatanka Iyotake (Sitting Bull) took his last breath between noon & 1pm. The wailing of women could be heard in every direction.
Sitting Bull was a Chief, Medicine Man, prophet, & statesman. He was a member of the Kit Fox Society, the Midnight Strong Heart Society & many others. The Strong Hearts were an elite group of warriors. He was also a sash wearer, a title reserved for only the bravest of Lakota.
It was Sitting Bull who received the vision of Custer’s Fall at Greasy Grass (Little Big Horn) while sundancing. He gave 50 pieces of flesh that day. That’s why the people were camped at Little Big Horn; for Sundance. In his vision, Sitting Bull saw soldiers fall like grasshoppers, and a voice said unto him, “I give these to you, because they have no ears."
Sitting Bull was loved by many. Other Native Nations ran to him for help, like the Nez Perce. After the Dakota War in Minnesota, some Dakota went to camp with Sitting Bull of the Hunkpapa Lakota. Some of his wives were Dakota. That’s who made him Dakota floral beadwork.
Sitting Bull once traveled to visit Wovoka, a Paiute holyman who had the vision of the Ghost Dance. He left a sacred bundle on their lands. “If we must die, we die defending our rights.” -Sitting Bull .

#sun #sea and sand but no #smile s was found here , just the separation an scattering of a people, the beginings and root cause of the dysfunction if the #blackfamily .

Such a beautiful place but yet a place where untold evil and atrocoties rape and torture was common place.

visiting #elmina #castle
Pushed through the "door of no return", millions of #Africans were shipped from places like this whitewashed fort in Elmina, Ghana, to a life of slavery in Brazil, the Caribbean and America's.

As the plantations in America took off, the trade in slaves expanded, and Elmina became the last place many thousands of Africans would see of their homeland, for many it would also be the last place they would see altogether, due to the high death rates incurred during the middle passage in such abominable conditions. At the height of the trade, 30,000 slaves were passing through Elmina each year on their way to the Americas. This continued for nearly 300 hundred years in appalling conditions. There were many horrors witnessed here, as it is where the slaves were detained and tortured before being shipped to the ‘New World’. This is the actual place where this actually HAPPENED for hundreds of YEARS. The Point of No Return! LOST FOREVER!!! #scatteredpeople . Mahatma Gandhi statue taken down at The University of Ghana!

Members of the GACN walked by the statue just 2 days ago when it was up screw facing and kissing teeth. Energy came to passing 🙌🏿. This follows a vicious protest in 2016 for the removal of the statue by some academics of the university who argued that Gandhi was a racist and had no place in the school.

Christian's (@crabwax) ceiling tile at the Alley Cat, as promised. My apologies that the entire story isn't legible--it was after dark, the spot is dimly lit at night, and I didn't have much time before work to stick around. Maybe I can get a more detailed picture for you all later so you can read it all if you want, as Christian's writing greatly influenced my own. At any rate, the story was about our trips to the Cat on Thurdays mornings, and the drawing is of the building. #friends #memories #write #writing #writer #prose #ourhistory #loss #lostfriends #treasure #influence #influenceonme #alleycatcafe #colorado #fortcollins #oldtownfortcollins

Happy Birthday (Dec 13), JUNKYARD DOG!

Sylvester Ritter was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina, December 13,1952. He started out as a football player at college level, where he was a two time All-American at Fayetteville State. He began wrestling in Tennessee, working for Jerry Jarrett. He moved to Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling as Big Daddy Ritter, where he captured the North American Heavyweight Championship twice.

In the early 1980s Ritter moved to Mid-South Wrestling, where "Cowboy" Bill Watts gave him the name and gimmick Junkyard Dog (JYD). He originally came to the ring pushing a cart filled with junk called the "junk wagon" and lost most of his early matches before becoming the top face in the company.

JYD feuded with DiBiase in 1982. This was particularly notable as DiBiase, once JYD's friend and tag-team partner, turned heel and subsequently won a loser-leaves-town match against JYD. A few weeks layer a masked man of JYD's build would appear known as Stagger Lee. Other talent suspected it was JYD but were unable to unmask him to prove it. Stagger Lee disappeared once JYD's 'leave town' clause was over and reclaim his North American Heavyweight Championship.

JYD debuted for WWF August 10, 1984. While in the WWF, JYD would interact with the growing number of young people in attendance, often bringing them into the ring after matches and dancing with them. Ritter won The Wrestling Classic tournament by defeating Randy Savage by countout in the finals, as well as The Iron Sheik in an earlier round to get to the final. The tournament is seen as the first-ever WWF pay-per-view.

JYD also wrestled for NWA from 1988. He feuded with Mean Mark Callous (The Undertaker) once beating him in 39 secs and Ric Flair; challenging him for the World Heavyweight Championship. JYD won the WCW six-man tag team title with Ricky Morton and Tommy Rich.

Fitter sadly passed away in 1998 in a car accident coming from his daughter's graduation. JYD was still actively wrestling by the time of his death. He was inducted into the 2004 WWE Hall of Fame.

@handbags71 is a new follower of @get_waisted_beads.

When I asked her for a testimonial after receiving her beads, I never thought 💭 it would be this beautiful!
.
This Queen took the time to write a hand written testimonial ✏️!
.
Right away I was touched! Not only by her words and grace but by the time she took to sit down and WRITE!
.
Her words are extremely empowering. Her words made me feel empowered and they reassured me that @get_waisted_beads is TRULY doing ALL that I intended it to do!

One of the reasons I’ve stayed in Pittsburgh is because there are so many Great Master teachers of this music here. Today some folks got to experience one of those teachers when Mr. K. Mensah Wali spoke about his friend Rahsaan Roland Kirk for Lighthouse Arts Inc’s Brilliant Corners event. Learning about this music from a true “source” like Mr Mensah is an essential element to understanding how profound this music really is. Thanks to all who came out to support the series. We will see you in 2019!
