Who doesn’t love a tide pool? This pool was man-made and got narrower as you walked north up the beach. As I took this shot, 24 hour dredging of the beach to fix the dunes from erosion was happening behind me. This pool was a result and it wasn’t really that fun to wade in. The bottom was filled with peat which is gross the equivalent of thick mud making it really hard to walk in. As we followed the stream to this point the peat began to stick to our feet. I watched a toddler almost drown going in after his brother’s and go under. Luckily his parents caught it in time, getting the water out of his mouth. I told my teens to be careful, they ended up getting out. Dredging started in June between Seaside Heights and Ortley Beach. It just ended a couple weeks ago (hopefully). It’s an unreal process, at the same time really sad because it’s for humans, myself included, but then again necessary. Hoping this upcoming winter isn’t as tough as last. #lauriemarkiewicz#thegreyeye#canon#film#filmphotography#seasideheights#ortleybeach#summer#beach#summerrolls#fujifilm#nature#filmphoto#newjersey#jerseyshore
So while everyone else was paddling their race boards at the Paddle4NC race in Seaside on Sunday, I somehow convinced my friends Tom @millersportscars and Susan @suern7 that it would be fun for the three of us to paddle 4 miles on the inflatable Megalodon! Have fun and never take yourself too seriously! @josieolata and @eddyokinsky thanks for hosting such a fun and worthwhile event. #sup#standuppaddle#islesup#islemegalodon#bluesmiths
Do you want your family eating turkey on Thanksgiving in a dining room of faded wall color? Or opening presents in the living room with wall colors that were in trend during the original run of the NBC hit sitcom, “Friends”?? Disgusting. Get yourself on the schedule before the holidays hit!
