Today was one of those days that I usually laugh about. It never fails, but I seem to choose the most nasty days to get stuff done on the farm, whether it be from rain, wind, snow, or sun!
Today was hay day. Some years, I have farmer friends who cut and bale my back fields so that I have hay during the winter, but this year was a crazy summer and it never happened. 😣
Now, I have back fields in need of cutting, although my horses will be just as pleased to graze it. But, that doesn't solve my hay issue.
So...we made several trips today in the cold and wind to a neighboring farm and loaded hay into my truck (only 14 bales each trip), brought it to my farm, then unloaded it in the hay barn. Our hands were cold even with gloves...and of course, the lovely wind blew hay in our eyes.
We have several more trips to make in the next few days; but, it's a start! 😄
We did it again and are beyond grateful! From planting, to baling, to delivering here in the Santa Ynez Valley, we take a lot of pride in what what we do. A huge thank you to our loyal customers, we hope to keep our family run business going for generations to come! #hay#orchardgrass#premiumnorthernhay#alfalfa
We sold the last of our 2nd cutting of hay to this lovely couple who drove up from the Entiat Valley.
All the hours of irrigating and farming melt away when folks like these load up bales and thank us with grateful smiles.
Looks like our last ton from the 1st cutting is staying in the valley to feed some Mocassin Lake Ranch horses.
He’s unloading hay off his @ford truck for the #horses @bryerlyfarms who are eating more these days in preparation for winter coming soon. I’m so grateful the triple digit heat waves are over! Hello fall 🍁
Hope it has been a great start to this last week of September!
We have a great selection of hay right now + are open for pick up every Saturday from 10AM to 3PM!
As always, feel free to give us a call or send a message with any questions or to schedule a delivery! Have a great day!
“Orchardgrass won’t survive here.”
Ever hear this? We do! While this palatable, high quality grass is more sensitive to heat and mowing height, it can thrive in our environment. This is regrowth on Olathe just days after harvest. #stubbleheight#regrowth#orchardgrass#seagriseeds
