DAY 93/365 Become more. It’s kind of a mantra these days. You hear different versions of it in slogans, personal goals, self-help books, and all over the interwebs. I get it. On the one hand I agree—complacency is the enemy of excellence and an escort to unhappiness. I love to challenge myself, to grow, to struggle, and to triumph. But on the other hand, it’s easy to turn “become more” into “you are not enough.” If you want to change, improve, set goals, or challenge yourself, go for it! But I hope you know how wonderful you already are. I hope you know how beautiful, unique, and special you are. There’s no one like you. You might stand there and feel all alone, but there are so many who admire you for that—for how you choose to be you, come what may, no matter what. The next time you feel like one of a million trees in the forest, or just the opposite—a loner tree on a hill—remember that the only things that matter are your own tall branches and your own deep roots. You’re one of a kind.
