Pharming is a scam where a fraudster installs malicious code on a personal computer or server. When you click on any legitimate website, this code redirects to an impostor site, which may look like the real site. This type of scan is mostly done for online identity theft. To avoid pharming, protect your computer by installing firewall, take backup of your files and surf on secured websites only (https://). Stay tuned for more updates.
Something else worth mentioning is making sure the info you put on your IG in the description is real. If you put fake addresses, etc. for your account and a hacker locks you out of the account, then the fake info and other things will make it harder for IG support to identity who you are on IG in case of a situation like that.
Advance fee scams are designed to trick people into sending their money and personal information to frauds.
Such requests can come via email, social media messages, SMS in the guise of fake lottery wins, request to help others to access funds in foreign bank accounts and even dating requests.
Do not respond to such unsolicited emails or messages.
Are you receiving unnecessary emails? Then you are a victim of data breach as millions of email addresses are sold on the dark web every day! Want to check whether your email account has been compromised? Click the link in the bio to check.
