New hair 🚨!! Donated 8+ inches of my hair to @pantene to help make wigs for cancer patients!! As an oncology nurse practitioner I see firsthand how chemotherapy affects my patients, losing their hair is the hardest side effect. I was happy to give back to cancer patients and not to mention I am loving short hair!! 💇🏾♀️👩🏾⚕️🙏🏽 @amita_np #oncologynursepractitioner#oncologycare#browngirls#donatehairforcancer

In today's era of social media, we are more detached than ever. We spend time scrolling mindlessly, comparing ourselves to others, feeling disempowered or less worthy. There is much less real, human-to-human contact and empathy.
It's not enough to put an image of #ruok on instagram and think you have done your part. Raising awareness is fantastic, however have you actually picked up the phone and called someone to have a conversation and check in?
Here are some ways you can help a loved one who is living with an illness, who has experienced trauma, is struggling emotionally or dealing with loneliness or grief.
- just give them a call and say 'hi'
- offer to help weed their garden, they can just sit outside with a cup of tea and relax
- offer to walk their dog, or join them while they do it
- buy some basic groceries, or cook them a nourishing meal
- ask them what you could do to help in terms of housework
- remember big dates, eg treatments or test results, funerals, anniversaries, even holidays (set yourself a reminder to contact them and check in)
- just be present, even if you don't talk, just go over and watch their favourite TV show together - give big generous hugs

We are delighted to see the Power of Advocacy!
We recalled the work of many advocacy organizations in Nigeria like @ceafon_ng who engaged @dolapoosinbajo severally on the issue of cancer care. @medicaidcf and @drzus @sebecclycancersupport @matdivdavy @niolafoundation @drjoeodumakin @drjosephoncology @thedorcascancerfoundation @naomiobotfoundation All your Cancer Walks and Press Statements. We also remember @chidinmaekile who through @nmacarefoundation supported advocacy for breast cancer; @annieidibia1 @stellamicheals and @naomibossladythegreat who lend their voices and even supported patients like @comfort_onyayi_daniel .
You all are Legends.
Today, we celebrate you all and let’s continue to advocate. Work is ongoing at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, however, only our advocacy will aid the completion of this work. .
Integrative Oncology Care at Namaste Health Center:
At Namaste Health Center, we provide individualized care for every person that comes through our door. Our practitioners focus on the body’s terrain versus just the cancer site. This way of looking at cancer allows us to see the "why" versus solely the "what." Our approach is holistic, focusing on mind, body, spirit, and emotional components that drive imbalances and illness in the body. Our work is also grounded in scientific research. All of this insight and experience is then used to create an individualized plan that targets the foundation of the cancer process.
Dedicated practitioners will guide you and your family through treatment options tailored to your individual needs to achieve the best possible results. And, we encourage the formation of a respectful and trusting long-term healing partnership between the patient and the practitioner. Essential to this healing partnership are practitioners who are highly skilled in both the art and the science of healing and the empowerment of each patient with the knowledge and confidence so that he or she can participate and make positive changes to expedite his or her own health recovery.
