Today we visited the Bwindi Community Hospital where we donated some of our first aid supplies, as we have more than any two people should ever need. This hospital is amazing! They have a total of 120 beds (pediatrics & adults). They perform 150 surgeries a month, have a place for expectant mothers to stay who can’t make the trek to and from the hospital because of rough roads or weather, provide a kitchen for families to cook meals for the patient (the hospital does not feed you), and have an impressive outpatient program for general medical, pre-natal, AIDS, TB, dental care, and pediatric immunizations AND have a children’s unit complete with a NICU of sorts. We had a tour of the hospital, of which my Child Life heart was happy to see that there were very few peds patients. Pictured top: the peds emergency/trauma bay. Bottom: the pediatric unit complete with play area!
few days ago I was back in Lithuania for a short break. I met with an amazing school friend that is a great photographer and does stunning jewellery with real flowers. she gave me this magnet as gift to be reminded of the place I’m from. I also acquired the cutest key rings. just in time for my new set of keys for the flat in Berlin.
check out her stunning work on Facebook (and you can shop there too of course) - Peledos Dirbtuve or Owl Factory
