This is by far my favorite lift out of everything!

I break down the clips frame by frame sometimes, slow motion, pause frames, and so on, and compare just about each rep to the other and see if I’ve improved.

‼️ The biggest difference I made between these two clips was my hips/shoulders. 🔑 My hips don’t shoot up a drastic amount like they do in the first clip, and my shoulders are more aligned with the bar bath, not over the bar. #smallvictories

Olympic lifts are very technical and there’s a ton to think about — until a lot of it becomes second nature.  Foot placement in the catch of a Split Jerk is incredibly important - it’s your base of support while you’re holding X amount of pounds over your head!  So, this is something that needs to be drilled to the point that you never really have to think about it again.

The tape serves as a sort of visual cue (you just don’t look at it while you do it) to ensure consistent foot placement and proper base of support each rep.

This meant for years I couldn't do any meaningful #barbell #squats or #deadlifts. I still cannot do any #olympiclifts. I have to wear wrist hooks & braces with additional metal splints when I #lift. I have to be consistent with my #mobility drills and #correctiveexercise. I had to do various therapeutic modalities - #physicaltherapy #accupuncture laser treatments #chiropractic A.R.T. etc. I have to listen to my body and not blindly continue on because I "HAVE" to workout today - which when I was younger I didn't do this and  would literally have my #training partner hold my #shoulder in socket while I performed certain exercises - STUPID! Do NOT give up...it may take years to overcome, but it will pay off!

KNOWING WHEN TO SAY NO! ❌ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Since my flu jab/the weekend I’ve started to feel sick/ headache/ very fatigued/ with swollen glands so instead of forcing myself through a brutal Monday session I rested. I said NO, even after a Saturday filled of Food and a rest day Sunday, and then today I did what my body could take 👌🏻 why? Because why push my body when it’s under the weather and risk feeling ill for longer rather than shift whatever it is ASAP and be back to myself 🤷🏼‍♀️ woke up feeling a bit better this morning so took myself to the gym after work! 👀 what would you do? Train when feeling under the weather? Rest? Easier session? 🤭 ended up having a very good session today after dreading going 🤙🏻 managed to get a bench PB 1RM by 5kg and do 10 mins HIT on the treadmill 🙏🏻 planning on doing a post with an update on my macros/training/life/body image etc so keep an eye out!! This meant for years I couldn't do any meaningful #barbell #squats or #deadlifts. I still cannot do any #olympiclifts. I have to wear wrist hooks & braces with additional metal splints when I #lift. I have to be consistent with my #mobility drills and #correctiveexercise. I had to do various therapeutic modalities - #physicaltherapy #accupuncture laser treatments #chiropractic A.R.T. etc. I have to listen to my body and not blindly continue on because I "HAVE" to workout today - which when I was younger I didn't do this and  would literally have my #training partner hold my #shoulder in socket while I performed certain exercises - STUPID! Do NOT give up...it may take years to overcome, but it will pay off!

Here’s a post on what I often hear coaches say - PATIENCE. I’ve been working the last 3 months to improve my #olympiclifts under the watchful eyes of @mustafa_max84 and @jaredenderton 
What we don’t realise is that lifts like the clean and jerk and snatch can’t be taught or learnt in one single shot. They need to be broken down, with tons of practice on accessory movements. The #snatchbalance is one of my favourites, also most dreaded because it’s made me fall many times. But today, I was able to lift the same weight with much ease, less than a month apart. Swipe right to see the lift from 19-Sep-2018 and the one upfront is from today. My excitement and disbelief is evident with the embarrassing swear at the end 🙉 It’s not perfect sure, but we need to be #patient 😁 Same weight + smoother descent = progress! .

On another note, I’ve also understood that it’s tough to work on many things at the same time. I wanted to get better at pull ups, muscle ups, pistols, double unders, and improve my #powerlifting numbers too, and do many other things. We got to pick one or two on priority and work towards improving those. Can’t stress enough on this - Programming matters A GREAT DEAL. This time is for Olympic lifts, the others have to wait 😏

Practiced some Push Jerks tonight. Haven't done these for about 6 months. Slowely getting back into my Olympic lifting.
50kg 1rm tonight. I want to aim for 60kg by the end of the year. hopefully.

Teaching them the concept of " Halting Deadlift " making use of the leg drive during the 1st pull which is  around knee level . Using the leg drive is crucial to generate maximum  force from the ground as well as  training  the nervous system  to work like a chain or a single unit . Had a great session with them . Enjoyed every single moment . 😊

Consistency is key. I approach each lift the same no matter if its 50% or 90%. I'm braced, chest up, chin up, bar close and fast. Some of the many cues I've punched into my head over time. It's never perfect but that is beauty of this sport. Striving to excel and be better each day. I've come a long way and still the road goes on. Tapering this week for my meet Saturday. Excited to  see where I am at after so much hard work and diligence into my programming. I've learned a lot from watching, listening and through intellectual discussion with many and I hope to continuously hone my craft!

After she could tell i was tired, she decided to make me do high pulls with more weight. First time using wrist wraps and thoroughly enjoyed them.
