“ It’s the days when the body aches, the desire is low, you feel tired & you feel weak ... those are the days when champions train‼️” ❌ Was feeling sick all week so I took a couple days off & tried to get some rest. Even so, I was recently able to deadlift 315x3 for two sets on the trap bar; a personal PR for me. The day after that I tackled this hang squat clean workout & was able to maintain around 1,000 cal on the rower for every round. I decided to join the lift-off program CrossFit Catawba Valley is offering for Olympic lift training, and I'm excited for this journey! This is in conjunction with my current routine and I  look forward to the progression. .

Today was my first day back to CrossFit in a year or two and it shocked me how hard it is to get snatches and cleans down with good form. Back to where my love for lifting started. Looking forward to the future and the new gains and strength it holds for me. 
Side note: Teresa kept telling me to keep my elbows up, I heard her, but my arms had a mind of their own. Get your shit together elbows! Dang, making me look bad on my first day. Jeez 😞

Seriously why do people skip leg day! I always feel accomplished when i cant walk for 2 days straight. It's both a horrible feeling but also fantastic feeling! Don't skip the body's foundation!! LEG DAY! Also shout out to leg pressing 748lbs. Also please everyone you want to feel weak do a complete leg day and add Romanian Deadlifts at the end.

Freestyle Friday Fuckery this morning. There are a few of us trying the nail this power clean capo, and we’re strapping ourselves in for the long haul with lots of practice. Because we are a group training facility, we like to give our clients the chance to do what ever they want on a Friday. Today a few of us were talking Olympic lifts and the snatch. I have never done a snatch, and have no experience in coaching it, so won’t be doing that any time soon. We talked about having to be able to do an over head squat. I can do that with a nice light weight so gave it a crack. Trying the snatch got me thinking about my clean and how I jump from a narrow to wider position when landing in clean. So though maybe I should position my stance to where it comfortably lands. Gave it a practice run and if felt a lot smoother to me. Shoulder mobility/strength improving each day.  Haven't been able to get this weight above my shoulders for awhile with all the abdominal surgeries and endless setbacks/muscle rebuilding phases.

|| GETTING COMPLEX || I've been playing around with a few barbell complexes in my training recently to balance my more "academic" lifting (focusing on the basics and ensuring good range of movement). My latest favourite is 5 rounds of 3 back-to-back efforts of the complex below, resting for 1 minute between each round:
- Clean
- Front squat
- Overhead press - Back squat
- Overhead press - Safely lower bar to the ground. 
I try to stick with a light enough weight for this complex to ensure that I don't lose my form but heavy enough to still feel like I deserve that minute rest between each round! 💪
