Well, I decided on holiday that I need to make some real progress with my snatch by year end.  The list of flaws is too long to list here, but I’m sure I can improve several of them by year end.

The video shows my finisher of a power snatch emom at 60Kg, which really highlights my bad technique.

I followed the attached class of hang full snatch, and the class wod, with 12 rounds every 90 seconds of 2 full snatch, then finished with the 60Kg power snatch emom.  This probably shows my snatch at it’s worst, as legs and shoulders were tired by this point, and it was my first session back from holiday......🙄Nevertheless, this is my line in the sand, so I really hope I make some bloody progress on my nemesis that is snatch😂

I’ve found the key with fitness and nutrition is doing the things you enjoy that fit with your lifestyle.

Recently I’ve been adding a little CrossFit back into my training because it is something I’ve always enjoyed. It makes going to the gym and training real easy when you’re doing something you love.

Don’t like your current training routine? Try something different. Feeling burnt out at the gym? Get a good group of people to train with you.
•
The same goes with nutrition, if you are finding that your body is functioning better eating a certain way listen to what your body is telling you. Do you feel more recovered when you’ve added in carbs? Play around with that. Does your body feel less inflamed when you stay away from a certain food? Try eliminating it for 30 days and then slowly reintroducing it.
•
Bottom line life is too short to feel trapped by your training and nutrition plan. Find something that you enjoy and that balances with your life.

BOTH kids were sleeping at the same time, so for that very short lived miracle I had a decision: workout or nap?? I chose workout because usually I choose nap, so I’m livin on the edge today. 5 rounds: 5 hang cleans @ 65# + 200m run. Short and sweet (and finished right as Kai woke up). I’m slowly adding Olympic lifts, and my form here is not great... def need to work on stabilizing those wobbly knees. ‼️HAND POSITIONS DURING DEADLIFTS ‼️
•
Where should they be and what type of grip: •
1️⃣ Conventional: hands should be outside of your knees! Not in or on top of! You want to keep the bar close to you and have as much leverage as possible. I prefer shoulder width, a little wider sometimes. •
2️⃣ SUMO: hands should be within the knees and depending on what is comfortable can be gripped shoulder width apart or more NARROW. A more narrow grip (think inter knurling) may decrease bar control but it is important to find what is comfortable for you.
•
3️⃣Overhand/Underhand/Alternative Grip: ▶️Overhand is great for symmetry, and overall pull and should be preferred for general strength training to prevent muscle imbalances. ▶️Underhand (palms facing away from you) is less common and not recommended but if you want to train grip or have more bicep work (which is not always good) I recommend it for LOW INTENSITY ONLY. ▶️Alternative grip can be 50/50, less worry about grip giving out or need for straps but can cause unwanted rotational torque on your body. •

Getting back to practicing  snatch before the WOD today.....kept it light and worked technique trying to be slow at the start of the pull then explosive, make sure I fully extend and get under the bar quick....and not jump forward....did some thoracic mobs before this and it helped a lot! You can incorporate ALL the abdominal exercises you want but WITHOUT core strength you're screwed IMO.

BACK TO WORK! After the not so good display of Strength at Nevada’s Strongest Man I realized that I need so much more work. I simply wasn’t strong enough to do well. @mrwebb78 is an amazing StrongMan Coach and showed me everything I needed to do And we did what we could in the short time we had. I simply wasn’t strong enough. 
So here I am doing what I get to do, work hard and get stronger. Now I am getting ready for February’s Pacific Coast Open. Working with the Magnificent @max_aita once again. But this time around I’m doing the SuperTotal Route. Let’s see how this goes.
