Will I ever look my age? Or am I doomed to forever look like an angry, chubby cheeked teenager? The oldest anyone has guessed my age was 24. My late teens, they thought I was 12. I usually get 16-17. I know I'll appreciate it when I'm ancient but for now...meh.
Yesterday (when I took this crappy quality selfie) I was told that I don't look old enough to have a 17-year-old. Then I said that I also have a 19-year-old and the woman I was talking to was even more surprised and stared at me in disbelief until I told her how old I am (46). I wasn't that young when I had my kids (27 & 29) but people have always told me I don't look old enough to have kids whatever age they are.
Here's my theory why:
1. Outer Health. I take care of myself. I sleep a lot, I try to eat well and stay relatively fit, and I try to keep my stress levels under control. Maybe there's also some good genes in the mix, too.
2. Inner Health. I do the hard work of healing myself on emotional, mental and spiritual levels, I take care of myself energetically, I work on forgiveness, living with Love, and I do mindset work.
True health and happiness is an inside job. And it shows.

How are you all this September day?
For those of you I haven't met yet, I'm an artist living on the west coast of Canada. I have a photographer hubby and two growing boys, and one furry daughter. I spend most of my time being a mom, painting, going for walks on the beach, drinking traditional cappuccinos, and working at the Cdn Cancer Society in fundraising.
Some jobs I've had include yoga studio owner, contemporary dancer, accountant, english teacher, software editor, and I'm still only 29!!!!!! 🌏
Tell me something about yourself...
Thank you to those dropping in with your messages, texts and calls over the birthday weekend.
As I bring in another year, I recall one of my favorite exchanges in the last year with a fellow vocal student:
After expressing her love for Lizzie McGuire (the movie turned 15 this year)... “You never watched the Lizzie McGuire movie?”
Me: “No I haven’t.” “You haven’t?!”
Me: “No. When did it come out?”
“Um, like ‘03-‘04 I think— Wait, is that like after your time or something?”
Me: “Um, well I graduated college in ‘03.”
“WHAT?!!! I’m shook right now.” 😂 shoutout to @jessieomusic for this memorable moment.
Needless to say I’ve never been more aware of my age than in the last year. Being older with a musical resume lighter than some 14-year olds has been tough, but what I lack in experience I hope to make up in raw talent, work ethic, and a strong sense of self. Plus, I’m going to leverage the good family genes as much as possible. Have y’all seen my grandma at 90? 😎
