It’s about to be a CRAZYYYYY week. Between now and next Sunday I have: 3 basketball games, 2 holiday parties, 1 family event, a rehearsal dinner, and a wedding. Oh yea, and I have to teach and finish up all my Christmas shopping! I will start off by saying I am SOOOOO excited for everything but It has been mentally overwhelming me for the last week trying to figure out how to prioritize everything. So, what am I going to do? Make a plan and hopefully stick with it. My goal is to get 5 full workouts in and at least 15 minutes the other days. Also, to plan out my breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and the dinners we will be home for. Finally, drinking lots of water and take my vitamins to stay on track. The holidays are a time of exciting chaos. Nonstop days, late nights, parties, cocktails, family, and more. There are days, like yesterday, where I’ll lay in front of the fire all morning & stay out way too late at night straying from my “normal” behaviors. I have to remind myself that, it’s okay to do that. This is one of the first Monday mornings that I missed the gym-and I woke up disappointed...I had to tell myself that it’s all about balance. No one is perfect. So keep moving when you can...eat your greens...drink your water....and ENJOY the craziness of December. #motivationmonday #balance

Ive been posting a lot of exercise content on my clinic page lately. Head over to @alignphysicaltherapy to follow me there too and try out the content! I’ve achieved more stiffness with all the running and weightlifting I’ve done lately = bigger reason to get back into a regular yoga practice. My shoulder injury and my short hamstrings remind me that modification is key and props are your best friend. Today’s sequence focuses on those stiff running muscles that have been rewarding me with more effortless mileage. I rewarded my legs with his yummy sequence that felt amazing. Yoga can be for everyone, you just need to know at what capacity YOUR body is ready for.

This is one of my Monday “check in with myself” pictures.  The morning after a re-feed.  No, I’m not in my underwear so relax. 🙄. I wish I had a good before picture... I’ll try to find one.  When I was on templates, I was eating over a THOUSAND calories less and weighed 6-7 pounds more than I do right now.  This post is for those of you (you know who you are 😘)that are on templates.  You could be eating so much more, and be so much happier.  I strongly encourage you to hire a nutrition coach !! Even if it’s just for a while.  DM me if you need a coach.  I know several !! Also ... you don’t want to hear this buuuut Since I gave up sugar 43 days ago, the changes in how I feel have been crazy!!! I told my Husband tonight that I feel like a new person.  I really do.  It’s so worth it if you have arthritis, chronic pain or any auto immune disorder.  I promise it’s worth it and it’s not really that hard to do.  I  didn’t fall and hit my head and decide to give up sugar, I gave it up due to a food intolerance test.  Holler if you need support or need to know where to turn. We all have our struggles, we all tend to forget how far we’ve come. We all have moments of self doubt and self pity.  Sometimes I feel like I’m regarded as being different from other keto followers because I have been at a healthy weight for a couple of years. Maybe my goals are different than yours right now  Maybe maintenance is more difficult than I ever expected. It took me several years to loose 80 lbs, I’ve gained few lbs back and I’m ok with my weight because now I want to envision someone who can lift heavy weight, someone in her 50’s who is fitter than she ever was even as a teenager. They say that genetics does play a role in building a strong curvy lean body but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible to achieve something to be proud of.  So here I am in the later part of 2018 already putting into practice what I’ll be doing in 2019.  The holidays and vacations ahead will not stand in my way.  Food and laziness will not take me down again.  I can’t compare my journey or my physique to some of the badass women who lift that I admire and you cannot compare your journey to mine. The Deep Squat to Hamstring Stretch is a great corrective move and mobility drill. It targets key muscles in the lower body and spine while also improving gross movement patterns. 
Our ancestors gravitated to the butt-down-to-the-heels position because it was their only option (chairs weren’t invented yet), and guess what? It worked on many aspects of human movement, including injury prevention.

Thanks to the invention of the chair - sitting for a majority of your day makes your hamstrings tight among other things. As a result, movement isn’t too easy when things are tight and locked up. Your body forgets which parts are supposed to move or not so then you end up with low back pain, knee pain or simple frustration because you can’t do something that you used to.

If you haven’t been working on any of the mobility drills I have been posting then I would not recommend this one to be the first to start with. This move is definitely one you need to progress to once you have a bit more mobility in your hips. 
HOW
1.Stand tall with your feet wider than hip-width apart.
2.Bend forward at your waist to grab your toes with your hands.
3.Drop down into a deep squat while keeping your arms straight, elbows inside your knees, back flat and chest up.
4.While holding your toes, raise your hips back and straighten your knees until you feel a good stretch in the back of your legs. Hold for 1 to 2 seconds.
5.Continue for the remainder of the set.

Remember that every aspect of a training or rehab program has a purpose. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself “why” you are implementing this movement into your life.

Never miss a Monday! It was not easy to get out of bed after an amazing long weekend in Charleston, it being Monday, the temperature was 26 degrees, and my workout required me to run outside in that weather. Many people ask where I find motivation. The answer is very simple.....there are people in this world who cannot do this workout and would kill to have the opportunity to do so. There are people who do not get the chance to experience the high after a good workout....who are unable to get to a gym to satisfy their exercise cravings...and some who can’t even get out of bed. Keep your body moving...even when you’re off your routine. Today, I ran to the club house, did a very intense quick weight workout, ended on the spin bike, and ran home. It took my less than an hour. Now I’m ready to enjoy my day exploring this beautiful city 🌃 #nodaysoff #noexcuses #moveyourbody

TODAYS FEATS •
🔸 I managed to tippy toe front squat 130kg/286lbs for 3️⃣ (maybe i should start competing in strongest toes contests 😑 🤦🏼‍♀️), but for reals, so much work to do to fix imbalances, and grateful to be working with @max_aita and @goodvibratseans to get things in line. Weightlifting is about balance and symmetry neither side can dominate, lots of unilateral work to get my right leg up to par.

🔹I didn’t smack my face when attempting to be athletically graceful after doing all my accessory and bodybuilding work. .
