My little garden that could. I haven’t been paying it much attention after the tree fell in the middle of my precious garden but tonight, I decided to take a journey out there and my, what a surprise!! #freshsalsa 🍅 #okra#gardengoodies
Okra is one of my favorite veggies, have you tried it? When I moved to the States I was surprised to learn that it's mostly eaten deep fried and in the South. This was last night's dinner, my mom stir-fried the okra with kamoboko (fish cake) and it's pictured on the bottom right. My kids are being spoiled by this Okinawa life as the Okinawa Life Course for Early Childhood continues to expand. ✌🏽
"Eat your greens. You may be afraid of okra because of its bad rap for being slimy, but a quick cooking method (think grilling or high-heat oven roasting) can make this into a delicious new favorite (without the slime!). Okra is packed with potassium, vitamin B, vitamin C, folic acid, and calcium. It's low in calories and has a high dietary fiber content. Drizzle with olive oil, season with a sprinkle of salt, pepper, and garlic, and then roat at 425F for 10-15mins." @bluezones .

It was one of our favorites and perfect for summer. Once you start, you can't stop!
Managing Blood Sugar Levels
A present study, for the first time, confirms that A. Exculentus peel and seed possess blood glucose normalization and lipid profiles lowering action in diabetic condition. Okra apparently contains these compounds... Some people claim that okra water can help stave off the development of type 2 diabetes, and help individuals maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Jamal has in his hands one of our favorite vegetables! okra!
If you are not from the southern parts of the US, you might not be that familiar with okra. Sometimes called lady’s fingers, bamia, or gumbo, this plant grows in tropical and warmer climates. Okra was adored by the Egyptians and is still served in many Indian dishes.
Okra is more than just a tasty seed pod, (you can eat the leaves also, by the way), this ancient plant goes back more than 3500 years where it was not only revered for its tasty pods, but for its incredible health benefits. #tastytuesdays#sustainability#annieshouse#garden#okra#plantbased#plants#vegan#veggies#vegetarian#vegatables
"The evening star is shinin' bright. So make a wish and hold on tight. There's magic in the air tonight, and anything can happen." - The Princess and the Frog
Most people only know gumbo from a vague romantic notion out of the well-known Disney movie, but actually never tasted it. Especially in Denmark, gumbo which originates from the U.S. state of Louisiana, is a dish which is hard to get.
On Sunday August 12, you'll get a unique chance to enjoy @thecaribbeanhousewife's own signature creole style gumbo at one of our favorite restaurants in town: @blaaregn.
I will be the guest chef for this evening and will make two versions: a pescatarian one with organic seafood and a vegan version with vegetables only for our loyal vegan fans.
It will be a beautiful, magical summer night with soul soothing gumbo, but also our much loved roasted plantain, lovely natural wines, and a delicious, refreshing hibiscus cocktail.
We hope to welcome you! 👩🏽🍳🍲🔥
Please note: space is limited so we strongly recommend booking your table in advance via the ticket link. Please also mention in the comment section, if you would like the pescetarian or vegan version, so we know how much to make in advance.
