Time limited portrait experiment completed. Two lots of 1.5 hours, so a total@of 3 hours from start to finish. Clearly I’m already obsessing about all of things I’ve missed and want to reassess, but that was the whole point of the exercise. A few more of these timed works and I’ll hopefully get better at making faster decisions on the most important shapes and tonal values. Fingers crossed! 🤞🤔😀#lovetopaint#lovepainting#portraitpainting#portrait#oilportrait#melbourneart#melbourneartist
Go check out @_itz_amara_ ! This is for one of my great friends, thanks for putting up with my annoying self; and I hope you like it! I’m still learning a lot, now realizing (and I admit) that the colors on this painting are very far off from the original picture. But I tired my best and this is the finished painting! And I’m also doing two more paintings in the future, one is for you Corky. :)
Portrait of Gary
Hoy es el cumple de mi marido, Gary, y pinte este retrato de el....
I am not a portrait painter but decided to paint this portrait in oil, working it through in the grissaile technique. Gary has this Brave Heart aspect about him at times, and I wanted to show this seriousness of purpose enveloped in the enigma of Being....
Today is his birthday so I gave him this image of himself.
"Be still and know that I am God."
Painting in a bit of a daze today, not feeling so good! But thankful that this project is all about affirming us in our brokenness and neediness.
I'm anxious. I'm stuck in my head. I'm ill and tired. But Christ is enough for me.
