Keep hearing & learning things to stun me - as a man, a father, a flesh & bones person - in the both the absolute best & most horrifying worst possible ways imaginable. How do we make it here? To where we are? To where we awake to find ourselves? How do we arrive & continue? How do we even make it out of the bed in the first place some days? I have a high schooler & a 5th grader. With each passing year I throw myself at, I sing a little more urgently Dylan’s prayer: “No matter what happens to me/No matter what my destiny/Lord, protect my child...” It must have been my parents’ prayer too - as I hurtled through the world wild-eyed, terrified, & mystified so much of the time throughout my #boyhood . Somehow we’re here, & it’s today, & we’re moving along & still growing - older, bigger, longer, wider, wiser (?) - & the whole beautiful & messy & delightful & terrifying deal pushes forward without pause. & I gotta hope, I pray, I sing, I ask that love gets us through the blind spots, the shadowed wooded areas & dark cold valleys. I know love’s strengths, & have encountered some of its undaunted possibilities, but I see & hear word, too, that reveals love’s undeniable & quieting weaknesses, its vulnerabilities & the critical weight that comes to bear on it in tough or unimaginable times. We’re surviving somehow. But the whole deal is more fragile than any of us wants to imagine, so hold close when/as you can, & “teach your children well” as the other song goes, & stay open, grateful, attentive & alert for love, folks, & settle for nothing - absolutely nothing - less.

Off the back bays, bigger fluke are starting to show up again in the deeper, clean water. The trouble is the water has been murky. There are still small sea bass abundant. Striper are still showing up at night near the bridges and piers. Biting mostly on lures and soft plastics.
We are holding an OPEN house this week! Come down and experience what it would be like to own a home this close to the beach!
