If Rian Johnson tweets about making good spaghetti, Star Wars fans would roast him about not making a good Star Wars film. Let the man talk about spaghetti, there's no need to bring up a dumb science fiction movie as an excuse to give him death threats. Smh.
Day 26: Favorite Scene in space
Okay, I chose these two because they’re completely bad ass. The battle above Scarif was amazing. My favorite part is when the rebels think they’re done and try jumping to light speed, but then BOOM, in comes a destroyer. Absolutely genius!! I also picked Holdo’s sacrifice because I mean it was pretty freaking cool. I didn’t necessarily like the character of Holdo, but she definitely redeemed herself with her sacrifice.
Lucasfilm has put plans on future 'A Star Wars story' spinoffs on hold, which are the Obi Wan film (which was active in the planning/pre-proudction process) and the Boba Fett movie.
They will instead be focusing on Episode IX, a new trilogy from Rian Johnson, the planned movies from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (the creators of GOT), and other movies.
The main reason the spin-offs got delayed is because Solo underperformed at the box office and did not meet their expectations.
I’m not too upset or worried by this news if it means they’re going to eventually take the time to perfect those standalone spin-offs rather than rush it as they did with Solo (I’m happy as long as they eventually get made, are in the right hands, and Ewan McGregor reprises his role as Obi Wan).
Even though I think the movie was fine, I think the main reason Solo underperformed was because it was rushed & they didn't perfect it. I always said I would rather they delayed it after the production problems rather than meet the May release date but alas🤷🏻♀️. For now, we just have Episode IX, the Rian Johnson and D&D movies, and the planned Star Wars TV show from Jon Favreau coming up, we have enough for the mean time lol.
What do you think?
The poor performance of Solo has led Collider to report on an exclusive report that Lucasfilm are reportedly cancelling the other Star Wars spinoffs which means the Obi-Wan film. Now I can see why they have done this but I don't think the spinoffs are bad. For the most part Solo was a great film considering what it could have been and Rogue one was very popular. Some say it could be Star Wars fatigue. Solo only came out 5 months after Last Jedi. Others say it's because of the Last Jedi that some fans are boycotting it. Personally I think it's a bit of them all. I wasn't too excited about Solo. I wasn't thrilled when it was announced and I wasn't too much a fan of the Last Jedi. Hopefully Lucasfilm do push the Obi-Wan film forwards and what do you think?
