Around 6 years separates these photos and it feels like a lifetime ago! It feels like these are two completely different people to be honest 💗 I’ve always wanted this space to be uplifting for other people rather than a place where people compare because there’s far too much of that on social media! ⠀⠀⠀

The 1st photo was taken a few days ago, and i have lumps, bumps, curves & boobs 🙌🏻 yes of course I’ve got insecurities like everyone does but I’m also happy, I’m not a slave to food or to dieting or calorie counting!⠀⠀

I’ve definitely come to appreciate my weight gain, I find myself loving this new found junk in the trunk 😂😂 between these photos is about 10-15kg, I don’t 100% know as I’ve stopped weighing myself! This extra cushioning has created a healthy body that thrives, its restored my period which was non-existent for almost 6 years!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The 2nd photo was taken when I was 18 in Rottnest and I was miserable! I’d been surviving off 500 calories a day topped with vodka if I was going out which is a recipe for distaste! and my body was suffering!! My moods were plummeting, I was  depressed and lacked any motivation to do anything... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I think it’s safe to say, a number on a scale will not bring you happiness✨💫 nor will an ideal body type ❤️❤️❤️ celebrate that extra muscle, that extra cushioning that extra booty because it’s providing you so much more happiness and health than a number can or will! Xxx

One of the myths when growing up, is about not eating beyond 3 eggs in a week. They are said to contain high cholesterol. Fast forward to today, scientific evidence have shown that dietary cholesterol intake has no effect on the serum cholesterol. The cholesterol are made by the body in response to the diet that you are consuming. So obviously if you are not making food choices, this will affect your cholesterol readings in the lab. Eggs consumption are also shown to help improve your HDL (high density lipoprotein) readings, which are the good cholesterol that helps clear your arteries. Depending on your caloric needs, eggs are an excellent source of protein and good fats. They make you feel fuller due to the fat content, and hence you do not overeat generally. My morning routines are so important for me, this 2h in the morning always help me manage and  appreciate more my day. I love start my day with prayer or meditation before everything,  then drink some water (lemon water or tea), followed by workout or yoga, and when this is done,  I prepare my post workout meal (smoothie or salad bowl) and my lunch to take with me out (the day I work from outside). But some days, I  may not have enough time to do all of this before I prepare myself to leave home, but I always give my best to do all of this because I know this add something special to my day and to my life♥️♥️♥️. .

Fennel is a phytoestrogen and may help improve menopausal symptoms. -
Phytoestrogens are plant based estrogens. Their effects are controversial- they can mimic estrogen AND behave in an opposite way of biological estrogen. -
For most young women, extra estrogen can lead to infertility, PCOS, and even some cancers. However, in women over 50 who experience a decrease in estrogen levels, extra estrogen can decrease cancer risk among others. -
A study published in Menopause looked at women 45-60 years of age who had been postmenopausal for at least one year.

They found that those who took fennel, showed significant improvement in their symptoms.

Begrudgingly I had to buy spinach as we have eaten our home grown 😭 also it wasn't loose leaf, which I usually use a paper bag & then reuse the bag, so a plastic container. Ahhh! Hate plastic! We reuse our containers for our seedling & also we grow every avocado seed so the container will probably house 5 avocado seeds.... still, I hate plastic & try not to buy it.

Whilst it is the time of year when one needs to recognize the need for joyful socializing, it doesn’t mean that one’s nutrition goals need to be completely abandoned. Sanctioning festive treats to the realms of calorie control may appear Scrooge-like, but partaking in several gluttonous snacking orgy’s for weeks without any active appreciation of calories consumed may result in the birth of a January Scrooge instead. Or worse, a prompt to select a disastrous fad diet.

That said, it isn’t often that one can enjoy a gingerbread man, a mince pie, pigs in blankets or festive drinks. Therefore one must consume them if they are enjoyed. -

But instead of burying one’s head in the sand ‘because it’s Christmas’, one can still enjoy such food/drinks alongside at least partial awareness of the accompanying nutritional information of that energy source.

Then, when January 1 arrives, one can reflect on an enjoyable month where treats were eaten and alcohol was drunk, with neither indulgence violently regressing their fitness goal. 🤜🤛

Not all fat is "bad for you"

Good/Bad Fats
Most people don't know that fat is a key component to a healthy diet. Fat helps to contribute to fat-soluble vitamins, energy, and essential fatty acids. Some can get confused with the difference between good fats and bad fats. 
So what is BAD FAT?
	Try to aviod trans-fat, and saturated fats. They are usually found in food items like fries, margarine, baking mixes, and even RAMEN NOODLES! 🤯 These fats can lead to heart disease, clogged arteries, and lower GOOD cholesterol and raise BAD cholesterol. 
GOOD FATS DO EXIST! 	They are unsaturated fats that also have polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. These are found in avocados, walnuts (other nuts as well), dark chocolate, whole eggs, and extra virgin olive oil. 
When taken in MODERATION, these good fats can cancel out the bad fats and contribute to losing unwanted fat!

Moral of the story:
* ALWAYS read the nutrition label!
* Moderation is important!
* Too much of anything is BAD!

Rainbow Boats (Servings 2-4)⠀

Ingredients: ⠀
1 head romaine lettuce (organic if possible, separated into individual leaves)⠀
1/2 cup beet store bought hummus (no preservatives)⠀
1 cup halved cherry tomatoes⠀
1/2 cup alfalfa sprouts⠀
1 cup shredded carrots ⠀
3/4 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced⠀
1 ripe avocado, cubed⠀
1 tbsp. hemp seeds⠀

For the Sauce:⠀
1/3 cup tahini ⠀
2 tbsp. lemon juice⠀
1 tbsp. maple syrup⠀
Pinch sea salt⠀
Water to thin, if needed⠀

Directions:⠀
1. Prepare sauce by whisking tahini, lemon juice, maple syrup, and salt in a small mixing bowl.  Add water 1 tbsp. at a time, until dressing thickness is to your liking. Taste and adjust flavor as needed. Set aside.⠀

Always organic everything when possible! Feel free to change up the type of nuts based on what you like and what works with your body. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place nuts in a big mixing bowl. In a small bowl melt 2 scoops of coconut oil. Add the coconut sugar, cinnamon, a small amount of ginger, and sea salt to the melted coconut oil. Pour mixture over the nuts and stir until the nuts are evenly coated. Spread nut mixture into a baking sheet. Place in the oven for 10min. Stir them and bake for another 5min.  Take them out of the oven and stir again. Feel free to add more spices and stir! Let the nuts cool completely. Store in old glass jars or an airtight glass container. Keep in the fridge or room temperature and eat them throughout the next couple of weeks!

I love home workouts! I’ve been enjoying them for several years now. I just use my body + dumbbells + a mat. Oh and ankle weights.⠀

I wanted to share that my husband bought our family a gym membership. He likes access to variety for his workouts.⠀

And he wants a place where the boys can play basketball (our driveway is not great for getting a goal at our house). Plus the kids will get discounted sports.⠀

It feels weird to have a gym membership again. I only go on Saturdays and most of what I do is walk the treadmill on a high incline. And sometimes I do a few machines.⠀

But mostly I do home workouts. I don’t worry about anyone looking at me or feeling awkward. I watch my favorite shows. And I’m used to pajamas, so it’s a thing to get dressed and drive.⠀

I know my crew loves shooting hoops and it helps my husband stay accountable with exercise, and I love family time. So I go.⠀

Progressive overload 💪🏻: First off if you’re not doing pull ups at least once a week you need to start doing them! 
Progressive overload is simply making sure you are lifting more total weight each session whether that be more actual weight, more reps, more sets or more time under tension. If you’re a beginner this should be quite straight forward where as more advanced lifters might need to play with the rep schemes a bit more. If you need any help just shoot me a DM
