考埋呢個試終於可以小休一下,好期待見到張Adv Dip in Nutrition cert~會去進修讀nutrition 嘅同學都各有自己嘅原因去進修呢科,而有趣嘅係,身邊最熟嘅幾位都好似係興趣行先,同工作脫鈎嘅感覺其實好好~

Losing fat might be simple, but it’s not easy.

It’s actually incredibly difficult.

Consistently eating in a deficit is hard. 
Consistently working out is tough cookies.

Consistency is the issue, especially since we live in a world where it’s ridiculously easy to overeat calories and sit on our booty-bums all the live long day.

Fat loss isn’t easy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make it easier.

When I’m working with my online clients, the goal is to build a plan that creates the least amount of resistance possible.

Less resistance means more consistency
More consistency means better results.

One way we’ll reduce resistance is by eating foods that are super-duper convenient, and this post covers a few of them:

Pre-Cooked Foods ♨️ —> throw ‘em in the microwave or oven for 5-10 minutes and BOOM. A healthy, convenient meal.

Frozen Produce ❄️ —> lasts significantly longer than buying things fresh and storing them in the fridge. -
Quick Grab Snacks 🐿 —> great for small meals or snacks on the go.

I fully acknowledge how annoying this post is and I apologize for that. I get so many questions about losing fat in certain areas though. There are a ton of products, creams, drinks, exercises out there that claim to reduce fat in a specific area. THEY DO NOT WORK. Exercises that target an area will definitely burn calories and strengthen the muscles but won’t reduce the fat in that area. You just have to reduce your overall fat level and eventually it will disappear from where you want it to 👍🏼

Now to reduce your overall fat level your main priority should be on your nutrition and consuming fewer calories than your body burns. This is a caloric deficit and is vital for fat loss 😊

Exercising plays a major part in losing fat because you burn extra calories and build muscle which will help create your caloric deficit and ensure the fat you lose stays off 👊🏼

Getting enough protein is also very important. I recommend between 0.8-1.2 grams per pound of bodyweight. This may seem like a lot but your body will absorb it all. It will help keep your muscle mass, keep you feeling full and actually burns a lot of calories in its own digestion 👌🏼

Of course there are several other factors that are extremely important (Sleep, hydration, stress reduction etc) so make sure you work on those, as well 😎

For me personally I’ve found that an 8 hour eating window works best for me. For others an 6 hour or 10 hour eating window might work better. Choose whatever time frame that works for you and run with it! People telling you, “you’re only allowed to have a 6 hour eating window” refer to IF as some magical thing. That’s not how I want to use it. It’s just a meal timing strategy. Choose a timeframe that works for you!!

Also, I like have my last meal 2 hour before I go to bed so I don’t wake up starving, this helps me in adhering to not eating in the morning better.

Starvation mode is the concept that if we do not eat enough our body’s metabolism slows down and stops burning energy and can even lead to the body storing fat instead...this is baloney. It’s like saying you can get to a point where you earn so much money you’ll actually get poorer...eh?

Some examples of what you may have heard in your time...
🔸”You probably aren’t losing weight because you are not eating enough, your body is in starvation mode”
🔸”if you skip breakfast your body goes in to survival mode and stops burning fat”
🔸”you need to eat every 2-3 hours to keep your metabolism up otherwise you will go in to starvation mode”

What’s the truth about starvation mode?
✅ It does not exist...it’s a myth. If you’re in a calorie deficit you will lose weight FACT!
✅ When you lose weight your metabolic rate will reduce slightly <100kcals in total. This is known as adaptive thermogenesis.
✅ This drop in metabolism is minor and never enough to stop your body “burning fat”
✅ There is a limit to adaptive thermogenesis.
✅ Skipping breakfast/meals has actually shown to slightly increase metabolism in the short term NOT slow it down.
✅ The thermal effect of food is negligible in terms of metabolism and therefore not eating would only reduce energy expenditure by a few % at most.
✅Resting metabolic rate actually has zero correlation with weight loss or weight gain.

Roasted Vegetable Pasta with an Avocado Sauce

This completely vegan recipe is an ensemble that just seems rich and creamy but is completely virtuous in every way.
Method:
1. Roast Medley of vegetables @woolworths_sa chilli flakes, salt and pepper and a drizzle of olive oil
2. Boil whole wheat pasta @woolworths_sa 
3. Drain pasta and mix the roasted vegetables with the pasta.
4. Add in 1 tub zesty guacamole @woolworths_sa a squeeze of lemon juice and season with salt and pepper and serve.

Can’t you find one for yourself? 
Mine is swimming anyday. It’s meditation for me. Aqua aerobics does wonders.

These skills are explored and refined through daily practice. This is where you find “what works for me”

For one, the practice may be scheduling grocery trips or making a grocery list. 
For the other, it may be the practice of preparing lunches all week 
Either way it’s a practice that may be new to the person and helping develop an important skill (preparation) that will have them closer to their goal. Practice and find what works best.

I want to apologize for leaving you guys hanging on the natural deodorant journey outcome.

I thought this would be easy. It wasn’t. So I’ll give it to you in the short version.

I started with Primal Pit Paste Coconut Lime. It was heaven. It smelled wonderful. I passed ALL the smell test (even knee deep into a hot, humid, Texas Crossfit workout). Then about 6weeks in I started getting a really bad rash. I thought it was detox and contacted the company. They assured me it was a sensitivity reaction and sent me a new stick of their sensitive skin deodorant.

Trek down the sensitive skin natural deodorant trail....
•
PPP (swipe to see pic) sensitive was great but no fragrance. I felt insecure and definitely smelled some break through funk. I tried the spray, it made me feel sticky.

Next I tried Schmidt’s sensitive pineapple mango. It smells great. Until you sweat and then it becomes a little too granola for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Last ditch effort, I ordered Native. Vanilla coconut 🥥 smells so good. It’s light. I’ve passed all my sniff test. I’m a month in and NO reaction.

Biggest lesson is this stuff works great!  However, you cannot do twoadays with one application 🤭 I do reapply more often than normal deodorant but I’m okay with that. And obviously, it has no antiperspirant so you will sweat. Which is good for you. My observation is after about a week I actually started sweating less under my arms.

How to Heal a Leaky Gut
#
1. Remove -remove what is causing the problem. Not sure what the deviant is? Do an Elimination diet for 2 weeks that removes all the common offenders like gluten, soy, dairy, vegetable oils, processed foods, alcohol (check out the book “Healthy Gut, Healthy You” by Michael Ruscio for a personalized approach), even remove medications (check with yo doc) & stress as well. 
2. Replace - Add in a digestive enzymes (protease, lipase, etc.) with each meal. If you are feeling nauseous while eating, try Betaine HCl or 1 T. apple cider vinegar with meals.
3. Reinoculate -  Add in a good quality probiotic to help restore gut flora. Min 15 billion CFUs in each dose with Lactobacillus & Bifidobacter species (I use Hyperbiotics PRO-15). Fermented foods such as miso, sauerkraut & kombucha also help!
4. Repair - To further help repair the intestinal lining, add in the following supplements: tumeric, aloe vera, marshmallow root, & DGL licorice (reduce inflammation), Zinc, Antioxidants (Vitamin A, C, E, & Selenium to reduce oxidation), Fish oil, & L-Glutamine (amino acids for immune system). If you are still having the same issues after completing all these steps, then work with a functional med doc to do a stool test to further diagnose

First, you dread getting dressed because the only things you physically feel comfortable in are stretchy, and even those sometimes cut in in weird places. You often go through several outfits, hating the way you look in all of them. There’s that one pair of jeans you try on every once in a while and every time they are too small and you wonder why you even still have them.

As a result of this, the second reason why being uncomfortable in your body is miserable is because physically you feel like a frump, so mentally you do as well! You walk through every day with a half negative attitude, not because you want to, but because you FEEL so uncomfortable. You feel like everyone notices. When you go out with your friends, you always choose the salad because you don’t want them to think you’re not trying. Not to mention you can’t even be present with them and enjoy yourself because you’re thinking about how uncomfortable you are the entire time!

Ladies! I know how you feel. I have been there. Actually, because of some recent life events I’ve been through, I know how you feel now! It doesn’t have to be this way!! Ah the dreaded plateau. Regardless of your goal, be it losing fat, gaining muscle, or increasing strength, when that progress you were seeing comes to a halt, it can be frustrating no doubt.

Truth is though, plateaus are an inevitable part of the process when working towards a goal. While many people take the first sign of slowed progress as a reason automatically change things up, often the best practice it just to remain patient and ride it out for a bit. .
But what happens when some time has gone by and you aren’t noticing any changes? The scale won’t budge, you’re clothes don’t fit any better, your strength has stagnated, and you aren’t noticing visual changes. While a few weeks of this won’t warrant taking different action, if you’re coming up on a month or more at a plateau, then it’s probably time to make some adjustments. .
However, don’t think you have to make all of these changes at once. Pick one, give it some time to work, then reassess. .
Tracking your calories for 1-2 weeks can help you see how much you’re really eating. Are you might be sneaking in little bites here and there that you don’t even realize? Also be honest about your weekends. Are you overindulging and undoing all the progress you made during the week?

Once you’re weight has changed, you’ll need to recalculate your calorie needs. Your new bodyweight will require a different amount of calories then when you first started. .
If you’ve been lifting the same weight for the same amount of reps for moths on end, it’s time to increase the intensity if you want to keep getting stronger and building more muscle. .
Increasing non gym activity helps burn more calories without having to decrease the amount of food you’re eating or increase your exercise. Best of all it’s less taxing on your body.

If you’re stressed out and not sleeping well, your body will do everything it can to remain safe, which means not losing fat, getting stronger or adding muscle. It will also throw your hormones out of whack, which can make it more difficult to progress. .
If you’ve been dieting for months, consider taking a break. This will allow your hormones to recover and your metabolic rate to increase.

Roasted roots and veggies.....,,Here’s a autumn plant based dinner idea ( I had it for lunch) 💚. Pan roasted the kabocha squash, sweet potato, beets, onions , and mushrooms. Once cooked mixed with apple, kale, purple and green cabbage, which I then massaged with a pumpkin/ tahini dressing and topped with pecans. A delicious and nutritious fall meal. .

Due to it's nutritional value it was fit only for the kings. Back in those days, if you were caught eating it without permission, your life was in jeopardy!

“If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives.” For the past months, I had been waiting for the right time to start changing my Instagram, and I had been waiting to officially start my business. 
With that said, this quote and book have helped me take the steps into starting when I wasn’t ready. I’ve stopped saying, “One day I’ll have my own business…” and today marks Day One of a new Instagram and business.
