Working the holidays as a nurse is hard. It’s inevitable you work at least one major holiday when you are at the bedside! Last year I took Thanksgiving off because my family came to town + I hosted. I was all about fall and Thanksgiving decor!  This year most of the fall season was spent wedding prepping, enjoying our wedding, and honeymooning. Since we have been back it has been nonstop work and school! Plus I work on Thanksgiving, so there is really no need to plan a big meal or go over the top with fall decor (though I still have quite a bit out because #holidaylover 😂). Anyways, working on Thanksgiving means I am off for Christmas this year! And I am SO excited!!! Went on a Target date with my husband today and picked up some adorable stuff! + we picked out our Christmas tree theme (we change it every year). I also picked up a hilariously inappropriate sweater yesterday for our festivities! 😂 What holiday do you get to celebrate this year?! 🎄✨ #itsthemostwonderfultimeoftheyear

These days it’s easy to find out which lullabies John Legend sings to his toddler, so I figured you might be interested in what I like to sing...Ok, I’m kidding... you do not want to hear me sing!

But what about a look into how I make sure to stay on track with my daily water intake. I know it sounds so simple, but it's something that I really struggle with, especially as the weather gets colder and drinking plain, cold water gives me the shivers!

The first step it to figure out how much you should be drinking, it differs for everyone. A great number to start with is half your body weight in ounces, here's an example

160 pounds = drink at least 80 ounces of water

The next step for me was to figure out how to track it an stay accountable. Some people pick a decent sized reusable water bottle and track how many times the finish it... and that didn't quite work for me! I took it a step further and checked out a bunch of water tracking apps, and finally found one that's been working for a couple of months. It's call Plant Nanny, and by tracking your water intake, you grow virtual plants. When you slack, your plant begins to perish (what happens to my plants in real life...). It also sends you notifications throughout the day to remind you to stay consistent with your water intake.

Now it's time for me to go drink some more water!

During my first postpartum workout I cried. And I mean an ugly cry. Because it was hard. I had never struggled like that in a workout. I couldn’t breathe I wasn’t enjoying it at all and I felt defeated. -
Just because someone’s journey is perceived as being “easy” or perfect THAT is NOT the case. I truly felt my body would never be capable of what it was before I had Dax. I felt like I’d never feel like myself again, but this was when I first started. -
After staying consistent and showing up daily, consistently, and not beating myself up if I couldn’t finish a move or had to modify, or had to cut it short because baby needed to feed or be held I found that if I truly wanted to feel good and keep achieving results I needed to keep showing up for myself and for him and for my hubs and I did and now 12 months later I’m still showing up! -
It’s not a sprint, it’s not a temporary fix, it’s a lifestyle...you have to want it first, then show up, then keep showing up. « Il a dû apprécier moyennement de devoir boire de l’eau salée » dit le Doc en éclatant de rires 😅😂 Il permet d’augmenter l’apport en sodium dans les cas d’hyponatrémie chez des patients ayant une restriction hydrique. 
Il convient de mettre dans le repas 🥘 la dose prescrite. .

For two weeks, my teammates and I are leading our challengers through a different workout each day, in order to provide them with an opportunity to try a large variety of the workouts offered by our platform. Because there are so many that I have yet to try, I am so excited to spice up my routine alongside of them!

September 30 to today.

So no improvement from the end of Phase 1 to the end of Phase 2.  It actually looks like I’ve gone backwards a bit.  But I’m giving myself some grace because 1) I’m PMSing and probably bloated (TMI idc), and 2) I missed an entire week of working out while I was sick and was not on point with my nutrition for my two weeks of vacation. (The stuffing-flavored potato chips I got from Trader Joe’s this weekend probably didn’t help either.  Totally telling on myself). #justkeepingitreal

So my goal is to stay on track with my nutrition in order to have the fuel to CRUSH these new workouts I’m starting in Phase 3.  And I’ll try to not let Thanksgiving derail me.

Yesterday was packed full of lots of todos! Meal prep was done, clients were followed up with, church, grocery shopping, messages answered, and family time. I’ve been asked before how do you meal prep when you do all this other stuff Kelsey? -
Meal prep is a nonnegotiable for me but it hasn’t always been that way! It wasn’t easy when I first started but I know I feel my best when I take care of me and I then take better care of my family! -
You have to manage your time accordingly! You can’t say you don’t have time when you’re scrolling Facebook for 20-30 min here and there or watching Netflix in the afternoon etc you have to make the choice and decision that you want to feel good and you want to have a healthier lifestyle and then, then you have to do the work! It’s not something that magically happens. -
But it’s soooo much easier doing it with a group of other women who are on a similar journey and making their lifestyles healthier together! Our online virtual camp just kicked off today but it’s not too late for you to join!! LAST week was a legit S*$! Show. I was aboard a crazy train and could NOT get off.  Work stress, kid stress, crazy schedules — you name it we were going through it.
•
As I sit back and actually review the week 1 thing was constant. My habit to continue to work on my health & fitness. I stayed true to that every day last week. •
I invite people all the time to my fitness & nutrition groups. Some say yes, some say no and some don’t even respond. But you know what? I keep asking….just like I do week after week because I KNOW what it has done for MY life. •
I was telling my husband Friday night that if I was the same person I was in 2010 I would be going down the same path that led me to self destruct and land in an eating disorder hospital. But I am different now. •
You know what saved me last week from going off the deep end? My groups. My fit tribe. The ladies who have my back day in/day out and offer support & keep me on track on a DAILY basis.

I owe it to myself to stay healthy. I owe to THEM too.  I show up every dang day because it’s a habit now.  Something I only learned by saying yes to joining a group such as this 2.5 years ago.

If you find yourself sitting here tonight on Sunday night regretting the choices you made with your food or even your lack of activity then let this be a sign for you. If you find yourself tired of the rat race of life and being so stressed out you don’t know what to do or where to start then let this be a sign for you too. There is a way out and an easy way to start. You just have to know which way to turn.
