Pasta bolognese brings me home. In a weird sort of way. I actually hated it when I was younger. I would roll my eyes when they said it was for dinner and then my mom would say “you don’t have to eat!” Yet in adulthood there are some days I long for it. I couldn’t get it out of my head. So even though we never have red meat in our house, I stopped at the grocery store after work and got half a pound of beef (grass fed free range since it was on sale!) enough bolognese for me and for my fiancé when he gets home for work. I won’t bore you with a recipe , everyone knows how to make pasta bolognese but I will share two secret ingredients: celery salt and nutmeg .
MY BODY ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH...😭 This belief, my gosh.... I never thought I would move through feeling this way.
The photo on the left was taken around two years ago when I was two weeks out from competing in a Fitness Comp. Super lean and hardly any body fat.
The interesting thing about the photo on the left was that the next day after taking this pic I found out that I was extremely sick, that I had a dis-ease called Rabdho through my entire body. Basically every muscle in my body was shutting down and my kidneys weren’t functioning very well at all. I was having constant memory loss and was finding it hard to stay awake.
After having to make a life or death decision of not competing (because clearly my life is more important than standing on a stage posing), I then struggled for two years wth distorted eating and major body image issues.
The photo on the left was taken two weeks ago. I weigh at least 5kg more, I have cut my gym sessions down... in fact I used to go 9 times a week and to be truthful in the last three months I can count on one hand how many times I have been to the gym. And I’m totally ok with that.
I have more body fat on me then I ever have had, and the most beautiful thing is, I can look at myself in the mirror and love my body, this beautiful temple of mine whole heartedly without judgement of it “needing” to look a certain way.
Health is one of my highest values, so looking after my temple is big for me. I love to fill my body with beautiful organic nutrients and I also every now and then like to eat a donut or a cupcake, because why not!!! To come to a place of feeling at peace with myself, and not questioning every little thing I put in my mouth feels really really FREEING. To come to a place of SELF LOVE within my body, my home feels so nourishing. It’s been quite the journey and one I really couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but gratefully I was guided directly into that light and it feels dam good!
On the 29th September, I am holding a workshop with my friend @carlstoma In Byron Bay. This workshop is called Nourishing The Inner Garden and is all around honouring ourselves and our bodies. Link in Bio. 🙏🏽🌱❤️
Not going to lie, this tastes good for the first 10 sips and then you kinda feel like you’re drinking lawn clippings and get over it. BUT- the ingredients are fire and you will feel good after drinking this! I personally like this for the wheatgrass, spirulina, and chlorophyll- makes it easier than taking capsules or the powder or tablets- all of which actually taste like a turtles tank water. 😘

Nourishment: the food necessary for your growth 🍃🥑 I've always had an interesting relationship with food. Its my source of energy, a source of happiness when shared and enjoyed amongst others and a source of self-love. But on the other hand there are other times I've craved something sweet and still wasn't satisfied or used eating as a way to socialise without practising mindful eating 🍬☕ A little over a week ago I went to see a naturopath and kinesiologist. Her office could be described as quaint and her disposition was friendly and task focused. I knew she meant business and instantly I trusted her. After doing what she does best, I soon discovered that I had whats known as leaky gut syndrome along with other side effects in my body. The honest truth is that I didn't know what she would tell me but never expected it to be that.
This however, wasnt the first time I had heard of the term and knew every thing was gonna be okay. I know that every thing happens for a reason so I'm choosing to see the positive in this. Maybe this is the universe's way of telling me to love my body inside and out a little more. To treat it with more care because after all what happens on the inside reflects on the outside. When we are fueling our bodies with love & nourishment we are instantly going to feel energised. That is my goal 🦋 Don't feel beat down by life, instead look at the puzzle pieces and see how perfectly they fit together when you take your time and see things from a different perspective. #GutHealth#Nourishment#SoulFood#ShineInYourLight

☆ The Shakedown :: "Infin8" ☆
-- Vendor Spotlight --
I grew up as a weird black girl in the suburbs of the Bay Area as a child of the 80's and 90's. I always had a vivid imagination and a passion for art, learning new things, and working with my hands. I have struggled and worked for my accomplishments while navigating the world even while being subjected to oppression, discrimination and sexism in both my personal and professional life. I've always been inspired by the world around me. I might notice a certain detail in something someone is wearing, or see a pattern on the side of a building, or see a haircut or a tattoo and be inspired to incorporate it into my own creative expressions. We are all characters, and what makes us uniquely ourselves is a thing of beauty. --> Read more in our FB event!!! Please welcome ...

I’ve not come across one person yet who was struggling with food that wasn’t struggling (even in subconscious ways) with their body.
It might be uncomfortable, but body image work is a non-negotiable if you want a healthy relationship with food. ❤️
V E G G I E
I have a couple of veggie clients so I’m doing my best to come up with some creative, delicious and nourishing recipes.
Tonight’s #nomeatmonday was quinoa falafel with spicy courgette and beetroot sauce
Falafel- cooked quinoa, chickpeas, onion, garlic, lemon, cumin, salt and coriander blitzed together in a food processor, separated into balls and fried in some oil
I struggled with being in my body for a long time. For years I didn't even realize that I was trying to avoid being in my body.
I figured this out because the more I did yoga the more I was able soften into my body. What I mean when I say soften, is to let go of the tension, to breathe a little deeper and feel compassion deep in my heart. I was connecting to my truest self.
But, when I stepped off the mat it was hard to keep that awareness. I would go back to holding my breath and trying to crawl out of my skin. This was not a conscious choice, but an engrained feeling.
I felt like I was resisting my body because it was not perfect. At times, I still struggle with this. I constantly check in, scan my body, remind myself to breath and connect to a greater power.
Thankfully, this is getting easier and easier to soften and anchor back into my body because I am committed to loving myself.
Everyday is a new opportunity to be more in our body, which in turn allows us to be more present in our life. Don't you want that?
I am tired of wasting time feeling uncomfortable. What's the point? It’s not helping me feel better about myself, that's for sure.
Just know we have the ability to move into our body and it is ok to love it as it is. We try to avoid it, but really we have to feel what it is like to be in our body right now at this moment.
Doing this, I feel more comfortable and confident in my skin. I'm not constantly trying to fight it.
Are you willing to love your body as it is?
In a world full of judgement and blame, it makes sense to feel completely powerless to our struggles with food. The best way to take your power back is to own that you were never completely powerless at all. ❤ @emilyjoyrosen @marcdavid_ipe @eatingpsychology @eatingpsychologypractitioners P.S. Green smoothie topped with cacao nibs - who says you can't be healthy and indulge?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 cup coconut milk
2-3 large lettuce leaves
1tbsp chia seeds
Throw all ingredients in a blender and blend! Serve with a healthy dose of cacao nibs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I prefer my green smoothies to be earthy and nutty and not so sweet, but we all have our preferences - you may want to sweeten with stevia or maple syrup. #plantbasedliving#animalsarenotfood#yogaislove#nourishment#greensmoothie#cacaonibs
Green juice every day. Except for the next 2 weeks cause I'm going on a mini tour playing in Paris and Berlin 🔥🔥
This juice is made of broccoli, kale, green apple, fennel, cucumber, half an orange, a lemon, ginger, turmeric, basil and mint 🌸
Chicken salad chard wraps for lunch today (well technically very late breakfast since I'm intermittent fasting ha!) Accompanied by seaweed salad, some raw fruits and veggies, and raw sharp cheddar. So yummy and light, and gave me more energy (most meals put people to sleep after lol)! .
I like to make my chicken salad without sweeteners or hydrogenated oils. I put avocado oil mayo (no canola or safflower/sunflower oil, yay!), lemon juice, dijon mustard, red onion, red wine vinegar, green grapes (usually use red but they only had organic green), walnuts, Himalayan sea salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic salt and onion powder.
Welcome to PurePower, Join Us!
We’re two cousins, Don McLaughlin and Sean McCabe. We’ve created PurePower on the belief that hemp, other plant extracts and lifestyle changes can positively impact others as powerfully as they’ve done for us. Why? Because we each hit significant roadblocks in our work, personal life and athletic pursuits using the traditional “24/7, nose to the grindstone approach,” and we each ultimately hit bottom.
As a result, we were forced to make significant shifts to manage stress more effectively and develop more balanced, sustainable energy. We began integrating a variety of herbal and botanical ingredients but found no supplements combined all of the most effective ingredients. Hence, we formed PurePower.
Our mission is to help customers enhance their enjoyment of and performance in life by creating functional supplements that contain powerful natural ingredients proven to promote health, well-being and balance.
But because we believe that optimal health, well-being and peak performance are achieved holistically and not solely through taking supplements, an integral part of our mission is to deliver wellness strategies and practices designed to work in tandem with our products as set out in our Inside-Out Wellness philosophy.
Finally, our core mission includes dedicating a percentage of our profits to fund social causes that enhance communities and the environment that we want to advance, including supporting disabled veterans through adaptive outdoor sports and adventure, as well as environmental restoration and protection via regenerative agriculture. ::
We both walked away from lucrative corporate careers to pursue this mission and contribute to these causes. Please join us on this journey as we bring PurePower to life and share a path to holistic health and wellness that we discovered leads to tapping our greatest power - from the inside out.
