Spiritual growth is not automatic. It takes an intentional
commitment. You must want to grow, decide to grow, make an
effort to grow, and persist in growing. Discipleship—the process
of becoming like Christ—always begins with a decision. Jesus calls us, and we respond: “‘Come, be my disciple,’ Jesus said to him.
So Matthew got up and followed him.” (Matthew 9:9) When the first disciples chose to follow Jesus, they didn’t
understand all the implications of their decision. They simply
responded to Jesus’ invitation. That’s all you need to get started:
Decide to become a disciple.
Nothing shapes your life more than the commitments you
choose to make. Your commitments can develop you or they can
destroy you, but either way, they will define you. Tell me what
you are committed to, and I’ll tell you what you will be in twenty
years. We become whatever we are committed to.

Reading the book "Purpose Driven Life" has changed my life... The book has been on my father's shelf for years but I never reached for it... God bless you @queenmurielleloves for inspiring me to finally read it... I shall give me full testimony in due season 🙏
Just a reminder to all who are getting their exam results today, that whatever the outcome you are more than a letter on a piece of paper.
I remember when I got my A Level results (14 years ago 😳). I did Psychology, Sociology and Music and I was so disappointed with what I got. I cried to my Mum in the kitchen and just couldn't see what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I ended up taking a year out to think about things. I worked full time, just lived life a bit, bought myself a car, kept learning sewing with my Gran and decided that I wanted to do something creative. This meant that I needed to go back to college to get an Art Foundation, as I hadn't studied anything art based. My foundation led to my textiles degree, which led to my Textiles business (Nellie & Elsie). My mental health then got really bad which was such a dark period of time but eventually that led me to what I'm doing now.
What I'm trying to say in a really long winded way - there is no set path to anything. There is no set path you need to follow. Things crop up, problems arise, new opportunities show themselves. Often disappointments lead to other wonderful things (more wonderful a lot of the time). Whatever happens, just remember you are so much more than numbers and titles on a piece of paper and SOOOO much more than a grade 💖
As a freelance designer, I always have ups and downs when it comes to clients and projects. Sometimes a project works out, sometimes it doesn't. The most important thing is not to get caught on the negative outcomes, and keep on doing the things you love.⠀
Over the past year I've been slowly learning to do that with mixed results, and I still get disappointed when a project doesn't work out. Especially if it's one that I was really eager to put into my portfolio. Although the issue had nothing to do with me, in the back of my mind I can't stop thinking that it might've been my fault.⠀
At times like these I have to stop my thoughts from spiralling down into an abyss of depression, and try to learn from my experience. So next time, I will:⠀
Remember that I am an experienced professional in my field and will act like one.⠀
I will not shy away from taking over the direction of a project.⠀
I will notice all the red flags coming my way that I preferred to conveniently ignore this time.⠀
I will make sure to take every step necessary for the health of the project, even if it means saying 'no' to the client and stepping out of my comfort zone.⠀
I'm working towards having a more positive attitude towards every brief that comes my way. Every project is an opportunity to learn to collaborate and communicate with clients. It also lets you discover the type of projects you enjoy doing, and things you're really good at.⠀
The journey to finding my style and calling might turn out to be a slow one, so I gotta make sure to at least enjoy it. ⠀
Your life doesn’t change because you read something off the internet or if you practice meditation or travel the world or whatever. Your life will change when you apply what you’ve learned into your daily, in-the-moment practice. Plenty of jerks have traveled the world and have remained jerks. 🤦
So let’s do the tough work—of opening our hearts ❤, slowing down to the present moment, waking up our resistance and laziness into service with joy—let’s have those tough conversations, instead of trying to stick with those who already agree with us or blocking or deleting those who challenge us. Instagram is full of bad advice about letting go, leaving things as it is, moving on and what not—there’s enough of that.🤷 Let’s practice peace beyond these ill advices, and also mindfulness within the moment. Let's work hard on things which seem impossible, be it yourself. Keep walking with a positive mind set and don't give up on anything in life easily. Whenever you feel low, just look at things with a positive attitude, see how good a life you're living, develop gratitude within you towards every single thing you have right now. ❤
Always remember, you get what you give, may be not today but tomorrow.
Just don't expect anything in return, I know it's easy to say or read this but difficult to practice, but keep trying. There are people like you who are working on themselves everyday and I'm proud of you.
Start you day with such positive mantra then see how well your days will become 🌈🦋
Be like the bird in a tree on a branch it's not afraid to break, for the trust isn't in the branch but in its own ability to fly.
Believe in yourself to accomplish your goals, but remember to be humble when you're at the top of the game and help others along the way. Don't leave anyone behind.
when i start feeling like maybe I’m not enough cause of the things that didn’t work. It isn’t me, and it wasn’t him..it just wasn’t from God. Be ok with that. Actually, be very ok with that. God has plans. 🧡 #Jeremiah2911#matthew633#notetoself#notetomysisters
