I’m officially a third of the way through my 3 month reset (detox) - no caffeine, no refined sugar, no alcohol.
I’ve approached this whole experience with a great deal of curiosity and mindfulness about how I’m feeling physically, mentally, emotionally. These are the main reasons that I wanted to take this break from these anti-nutrients to begin with, to experience life in my own mind and body. It’s been interesting so far to say the least.
I was expecting to feel absolutely amazing after a week or so and that is about how long it took for the headaches and body aches to end. Week two and three were more disrupted by digestive issues - bloating, stomach aches, irregularity. My motivation has been low, my energy low, my mood low. I just really wanted to stay in bed in the morning and couldn’t wait to get back to bed in the evening.
I’m four weeks in now. My belly feels a lot better. My energy is increasing, though I still really look forward to going to bed! I’m having trouble falling asleep most nights now, very unusual for me but I am waking up more refreshed.
Overall, my appetite has been lower and it takes less food to fill me up and I am satiated for longer periods of time.
I’m still having difficulty finding great focus while reading or studying. My brain feels busy and nervous. I still have moments of anxiety that take my breath away but instead of usually being focused on some thought or another it’s more just a feeling that I can’t quite put my finger on. I think it’s getting better? Sometimes it’s hard to tell when you’re in the mud, so to speak.

Update: almost a quarter of the way (3 weeks) - through my reset (no caffeine, refined sugar or alcohol) - my stomach hurts almost every day now and I’m feeling bloated and uncomfortable in my own skin (this was not happening often before the reset), I’m still dragging my ass through a lot of the day but some days I have more energy in the evening, which is inconvenient. My headaches have mostly stopped and I have less anxiety but still moments of pretty intense anxiety. In the beginning I didn’t have much of an appetite but now I feel hungry often and still crave coffee and baked goods. I still really miss coffee above anything else. I honestly thought that I would feel amazing by this point but my energy is low, my focus is not on point and I struggle to run in the mornings, I feel weak and slow.
