So I left my fungi family, and popped over to neighbouring village San Juan for a few days of luxury before my next adventure.
A little eco-village, with a thick mattress (gasp), hot water shower (double gasp), and all day Wi-Fi (seriously...too much).
I slept in.... relaxed in the hammocks....did some work (online businesses people! Get on board!), and spent 2 days in bed watching old episodes of Bob's Burgers and Rick and Morty.
One day I went down to the cafe for lunch, and returned an hour later to find my room wasn't as I had left it.
My laptop was gone.
My backpack was gone.
I stood there, in shock. Walked around 3 times, not really believing that I had been robbed. My room was 1 level up, and the window was now wide open.
I looked out the window, and saw foot prints on the ground below, disappearing into the coffee plantation that was next to my building.
I went down to tell the Manager, who immediately called the police and came up with her workers and her boyfriend to inspect the scene.
I stood at the door, explaining to them what exactly had happened, and as i looked down, I saw my socks in 2 little balls by the door.
Strange, I thought, how did you get over here?
Then I realised.
They were in my boots.
The fuckers had stolen my hiking boots.
I ran over to where my converse were, and yep, they were gone too.
I was shoeless.
I laughed. I couldn't believe it. They had scaled up the wall, broken through the window, grabbed all my shit, popped it in my backpack, jumped back out and through the coffee fields. All in the time it took me to duck down and have lunch.
Which also meant they were watching me (urgh).
The local police couldn't help- they could only report lost, not stolen (?). So the owner threw me on the back of her bike and took me to the next town where we spent hours detailing what happened to a little judge who stood all of 5 feet tall, if that.
Turns out there was a family of crystal meth addicts that were taking this place over, and everyone knew already about the poor 'gringo' who got all her shit taken, and this would
Day 6. Ha Giang – Dong Van .
Craziest day of the trip. We started off some real nice twisty mountain pass, and then faced one of my biggest challenge in my riding career, we had to ride pass this narrow pathway just enough for one bike to pass thru safely, cliff with thousand meter drop on one side, before we set off our guide gave us the best advice! “Don’t be scared, try not to look down, smooth throttle and you ll be fine!” Kim says 😂
Honest to god I have no idea how I managed to survive this and it was surely one of the most riskiest thing I ve ever done. We all made it thru in one piece. Kim also shown us a picture of the road one month back, the road was not paved and it was a mud path. Kudos to those living up on the mountain and have to pass thru this daily. Picture doesn’t do it’s justice, video to follow
I have numerous fall during the trip, mostly slow pace uphill terrain, but today I had my first low side ever, going down pass thru some villages farm, my front lost traction, before I know it, my body slapped to the ground so hard and slide for about 20-30meters. My head gone blank for a good 10 minutes, lying on the road, tried to assess if any part of my body were broken and pain soon come thru my wrist, shoulder and hip. Thanks again to @beardedtodd, reminded me to chill not to do anything and helped me moving the bike back to the road. It’s important to sit back and chill and let the adrenaline calm down first before moving whenever you have a crash, big or small, quite often we get back up too fast and worry about the bike, worst case picking it up right away and further injure ourselves. I think all the people from the village came out 😂 btw. Bike was fine, Honda is such a tank!
I think I could recognize @triaalfa jewelry among hundreds of pieces! Brands should create individual identities, even though it seems impossible trough-out the infinity of choices. I guess it’s the same when it comes to soulmates, one in a million and still we find ourselves.
Throwback to my now usual airbnb apartment 🏠 everytime I go to Bangkok.
It has everything a millenial city nomad needs: high floor 🚀, city view 🌃, clean/minimal design 🍃, rooftop gym 🏋🏾♂️ and swimming pool 🏊♂️, and in the center 10min from the luxury shopping mall Emquartier 🍾which has a coworking space👨🏽💻!
Day 157 ->174 Patiala to Jodhpur via Jaipur,Ajmer
Yeap, spirit has no religion, region and known language.Since left Patiala and lovely warmshowers family of Bir ,did 950 km for awhile cycled cross most abandoned villages and agricultural fields of wheat and cotton. Two districts are crossed Punjab and Haryana towards Jaiselmer direction last 50 km to see sand dunes and cold desert season. Most of the time hard to find peaceful camping spots ,either locals inviting or been waken up by "hey amigo its cold ,come to my house"its better !!Cold for locals means below 20 Celsius Degrees! For me its summer in short and t-shirt.
Each day familiarizing my self by Sanskrit and Hindu base language similarities in known languages. Most interesting word is Dharm ,means religion and all Slavic language speakers ,dhar or dam or davam means, gift, giving ,finding alot of meaningful conn. between verb of giving, all the beauty of linguistical influences. The other verb or word Chalo,Chale "lets go " by çal or chal in Turkish or influenced languages ,based on Caucasian ,Eurasian Area ,means "play" or dance and play.In Hindi its look like just go ,however music and dance a kind of base of locals .In past was interested to research and keep notes on Grammar of Orkhon Turkic (Uralic & Altaic) by Talat Tekin (Ozlem Tekin's father, sadly change his world in 2015) .
The other interesting influence is on of mantras in Hinduism ,related to motion and movement by below translated version;
Keep going, keep going this is our mantra. Never stopping and never tiring, keep steadfastly moving forward. Our inspiration is the sun, whose chariot moves steadfastly. It has been duty-bound through the ages, yet it has an everlasting intense energy. Movement is my Dharma, going from place to place.
Last most weird thing ,found Bharat is ancient name of Hindustan ,in Turkic lang, its mean Spice.Cheri viti, cheri viti!!!
